The Director of Campus Events will actively partner with campus departments and off-campus interests, and manage the campus events team to determine event goals and ensure objectives are met. This will include event planning, management and coordination of major and mid-level events serving a wide variety of constituents.Essential Functions:Provide the leadership and support to ensure the high quality of all events consistent with goals to enhance and leverage the Colleges brand in collaboration with the Office of Marketing and Communication as part of the External Relations division.Manage the campus major events (such as Homecoming, Commencement, Inauguration, Illinois College Society Gala and Bright Blue) as well as a variety of other high visibility events in partnership with other departments across campus.Plan and manage events in the Presidents Residence (Barnes House), in conjunction with the Office of the President and event sponsors.Oversee the Spirit Store as a brand management opportunity while maximizing sales revenue.Provide on-site management of events, camps and conferences when appropriate and coordinate facilities, décor, food service, audio/visual, parking, lodging and security for on campus events collaborating with various departments across campus to meet institutional goals prioritizing student success, enrollment growth and sustainable finances.Demonstrate hospitality and form positive working relationships with on and off-campus constituents.Develop partnerships to increase the number of facility rentals and summer conferences and ensure their success in meeting institutional enrollment and revenue goals.Oversee internal calendar systems.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree and at least three years of relevant professional and/or community event planning experience required.Demonstrated ability to think strategically.Intercultural competency; ability to work well with people of diverse backgrounds.Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships, engage in creative problem-solving, and extend enlightened hospitality when working with others.Attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a fast paced environment are essential.Ability to work independently and collaborate across departments.Must be able to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.Ability, sufficient strength, and stamina to lift and carry 30 pounds, move swiftly across campus and stoop, bend, stand, reach, and climb frequently while performing job duties.Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends.Additional Job Details:Job Title: Director of Campus EventsDepartment: External RelationsReports to: Vice President for External RelationsStatus: Full-time, Salaried, ExemptDate Last Revised: August 2024About Illinois College:Illinois College is a residential, private liberal arts college located in the heart of Illinois, 70 miles northeast of Saint Louis, Missouri, and 30 miles west of Springfield, the capital of Illinois.
