JOB DESCRIPTION: J1 RESTAURANT WORKER UNIT 8500Check below to see if you have what is needed for this opportunity, and if so, make an application asap.This position is available ONLY for J1 international students applying through Geovisions. All others should apply to the regular restaurant positions.JOB SUMMARYClean all dishes, glasses, utensils, pots, and pans both by hand and automated machine. Maintain cleanliness and proper operation of dish cleaning area and equipment. Assist culinary and other restaurant staff as needed.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSWash dishes, utensils, trays, and cooking supplies using proper sanitation procedures.Pull trash from trash receptacles and replace trash bags as needed.Clear trash from tables and floors/grounds.Clean floor area of any spillage of water, detergent, and/or foodstuffs per safety and sanitation guidelines.Fill condiments, utensils, and other supplies with stock as needed.Loading and unloading of inventory from trucks and stocking storeroom.Maintain the kitchen, serving, and dining areas in clean and orderly condition at all times by sweeping, mopping, emptying trash, wiping counters and equipment, and organizing shelves.Assist chefs, line cooks, and dining room staff as necessary.Keep all trash cans double-lined and in sanitary condition.Perform other related duties as directed or required.Maintain awareness of safety issues and report them immediately to your manager.SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS INCLUDEPartial High School; High School Diploma/G.E.D. equivalent preferred.Strong sanitation habits.Ability to recognize when a problem has occurred and report it to management.PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTSMoving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the unit.Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.Lift, carry, and push up to 15 lbs. regularly, 20-30 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.Able to stand for extended periods; climb steps regularly.Frequent immersion of hands in water.Speech recognition and clarity, including the ability to understand the speech of co-workers and the ability to speak clearly to be understood by same in English.Reading and writing in English.Constantly communicates and receives verbal communication with other employees in a fast-paced kitchen.Withstand temperature extremes in freezer, refrigerator walk-in, and grill areas. Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments.Physical presence at the job site is essential to perform job duties.EQUIPMENT USEDCommercial dishwashing equipment and cleaning supplies. General custodial equipment including mop, broom, and a variety of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
