Dir. Student Engagement, Student Engagement Coord., Esports Manager FLSA STATUS: ExemptPOSITION DESCRIPTIONThe Director provides strategic oversight to the Office of Student Engagement which includes the functions of New Student Orientation, Student Activities Board, Student Organizations, Student Government Association, leadership and civic engagement programming, student cultural/diversity/inclusion programming, student engagement software management, and management of the Student Engagement budget.The Director serves as the Student Advocate for student conflict resolution support and as the advisor for the Student Government Association. The Director supervises the Assistant Director of Student Engagement, the Student Engagement Coordinator, and the Esports Manager.POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSStudent Engagement FunctionsDevelop, implement, and promote a wide variety of extra-curricular and co-curricular student activities to engage the entire CCS campus community, including: large-scale, late-night, off-campus, educational, and student-initiated activities.Develop and manage the Peacock Pride student engagement portal.Advise Student Government Association.Plan and execute New Student Orientations and Welcome Weeks in Fall and Winter.Co-create and execute comprehensive Leadership Development programs, including leadership retreats and the CCS Leads program in collaboration with Residence Life.Serve as the College's Student Advocate.College Engagement FunctionsTrain and oversee CliftonStrengths Champions in partnership with the Residence Life Coordinator to expand Strengths to all of campus. Provide one-on-one Strengths coaching to students and staff as needed.Foster a supportive environment for student learning through student activities and development opportunities.Management of Student Affairs co-curricular assessment.Supervision Functions (Office of Student Engagement functions)Hire, train, and supervise the Assistant Director of Student Engagement and the Student Engagement Coordinator (2 FTE).Hire, train, and supervise the Esports Manager (1 PTE).Coordinate the Weekly Student Email.Targeted population support and initiatives (1st generation, transfer, etc.).Provide cultural, diversity, and inclusion programming for CCS students.Develop oversight and a support system for student organizations, including applications, training, marketing, finances, and event coordination.Other Administrative DutiesActively support and participate in Student Affairs Office events, such as First Year Experience, Commencement, Open House tours, and other required programming.Serve on relevant campus committees.Oversee department budget.Maintain campus commuter lounges and fitness rooms.Support Precollege Summer Experience program co-curricular learning as necessary.QUALIFICATIONSMaster's degree in College Student Personnel (or related) is required. Applicants must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with a high level of tact, empathy and diplomacy. Ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter who possesses the skills to effectively interact with students, staff, faculty and parents. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written required. Previous work in student activities, leadership development, student development or similar roles required.WORK ENVIRONMENTThis job operates in a professional office and college campus environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to maintain a stationary position, use a computer and other office equipment, and communicate effectively in person, by phone, and virtually. Frequent interaction with others, including staff, faculty, students and third parties is required. The employee may occasionally be required to move files or other objects weighing up to 25 pounds, including from low and high places. The ability to move around within the office and between buildings on campus, attend off-site meetings and events, and travel between Ford Campus site to Taubman Center site are required.
