The Rockefeller Archive Center seeks a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join its Access team as a Digitization Program Manager. In this newly created position, you will guide the RAC's efforts to make its collections more broadly accessible to its user communities by building and sustaining the organization's capacity for digitizing archival records. You will report to the Assistant Director for Access and work closely with other members of the Access team and other teams across the organization.The experience expected from applicants, as well as additional skills and qualifications needed for this job are listed below.We are looking for someone with excellent project management and communication skills dedicated to supporting broad and equitable access to archival records. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to collaboration and learning, and an understanding of archival digitization principles and practices.ResponsibilitiesPerforms, trains, and oversees the work of other staff in performing in-house digitization of original archival materials to fulfill on-demand imaging services requests.Coordinates outsourced digitization projects including developing requests for proposal, working with commercial vendors, and maintaining project budgets.Develops and implements standards-based policies, specifications, workflows, and documentation pertaining to digitization activities including the preparation, safe handling, and imaging of collections material, as well as quality assurance of digitized content.Provides expertise and support to other RAC programs and teams to accomplish digitization goals.Collaborates and coordinates effectively with the Digital Strategies and Information Technology teams in the use of systems and cloud-based technologies in support of digitization activities.Assists in the planning and scheduling of digitization initiatives in coordination with the Assistant Director for Access and other team members to further organizational goals.QualificationsRequiredMaster's Degree in a relevant field and at least 3 years of archival or other relevant experience; or B.A. degree in a relevant field and at least 5 years of archival or other relevant experience.Demonstrated knowledge of digitization standards, principles, methods, and tools.Demonstrated planning and project management skills.Demonstrated ability to exercise independent professional judgment.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining close attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.Ability and willingness to work both independently and in a team-oriented approach to achieve organizational goals, including the ability to share knowledge and collaborate across teams and program areas.PreferredDemonstrated ability to articulate technical concepts and requirements to diverse and non-technical audiences.Understanding of digital preservation standards and other data standards relevant to the archival control of digitized materials.Strong command of archival theory and best practices, especially as they relate to issues posed by digitized content.Experience in an archival setting or other relevant project management experience.CompensationThe salary range for this position is $77,102-$115,653 per year and is commensurate with experience.The Rockefeller Archive Center supports a flexible work environment.
