JOB OVERVIEWWe are currently seeking a strong Principal, Derivative Technology to play a key role, deliver solutions to our business partners, solve complex problems, and strive to advance and sustain world-class technology platforms. Besides strong hands-on technical skills, this position also requires the ability to lead and grow a team of technology experts with business acumen in financial services. This individual must be a self-starter with a clear vision, and ability to execute on a variety of engagements across our organization. RESPONSIBILITIESArchitect the firm's derivatives technology platform to optimize software structure and modularizationBuild in data transparency and observability capabilities with coherent design patterns for integration with third party vendor toolsLead, and grow, a team of technologists who will continuously develop their knowledge on financial derivatives industry regarding its data flows and system integrationsManage and coordinate project-based efforts across teams consisting of investment professionals, developers, analysts, QAs, and other stakeholdersCoach and supervise a team of engineers, QAs and DevOps analysts, both onshore and offshore through the software development life cycleChampion the needs of the business partners; act as their fiduciaryDevelop a deep understanding of internal systems and related workflows around entire investment process to help with solution design as well as handling support issuesEnsure quality of product by enforcing high standards in testing and building guardrails and validations Assist with project management activitiesProvide hands-on analysis for support issues and assist with user trainingProvide regular status reporting and issue tracking on-going projectsQUALIFICATIONS 10 or more years of experience as a software engineer involved in application development life cycles7 or more years of software development experience in financial services (with strong understanding of Fixed Income, Equity, FX, and Derivative instruments)2 or more years of experience as a software engineering team lead is requiredProven player coach experience is preferredProficiency in at least one the follow computer languages: Java (strongly preferred), JavaScript, ScalaWorking knowledge of modern system design, software development principles, and methodologiesPrior working experience in modern data management life cycle in real-world business contextsComfortable with test driven development, continuous integration, metadata driven software, and agile development methodologiesExperience working in an Agile/SCRUM development processExperience in financial data domain is preferred, especially in derivatives trade and market reference dataExperience with Amazon Web Services is a strong plusExperience in modern data technology stacks, e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, Big Query is preferredHands-on experience in SQL or other relational database technologies is desirableBachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, finance, engineering, or related field is highly desiredExperience with the Calypso Financial Software is strongly preferred NON-TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS Strong analytical and communication skills, both written and verbal are requiredExcellent organization and delivery skills are requiredExcellent written, verbal communication and presentation skillsDemonstrate strong client focus and relationship management skillWillingness to work independently in an energetic, fast-paced, business-critical environmentCommitted to deliver project on time and overcome obstaclesStrong team player with the ability to work in collaboration across teamStrategic mindsetStrong work ethic Intellectual curiosity Not sure you meet 100% of our qualifications? The base salary range for this position is:USD 100,000 - 225,000This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; role; skills and experience; certifications; and education.
