Markey's, a multi-state leading provider of creative audio-visual services, is seeking a Director of Event Technology to add to our team based at the Embassy Suites Plainfield location. The Director of Event Technology works directly with clients and venue staff, providing creative and technical audiovisual solutions for events through consulting/selling techniques, as well as manages all day-to-day activities regarding event technology services. This is a full-time, salaried (exempt) role. Typical daytime hours, although occasional early mornings, late nights and weekend work may be required. Major ResponsibilitiesWork directly with clients contracting with the Embassy Plainfield and other local venues, requiring various services including: audiovisual rental, rigging services and technical labor.Attend all site visits, BEO meetings, and pre-event meetings.Foster a positive working relationship with the Crowne Plaza at Union Station event/support staff, as well as local customers, and ensure customer satisfaction.Consult with internal and external clients, generate quotes & diagrams, and provide creative as well as technical audiovisual solutions for events to help secure business at its greatest potential.Manage and oversee all events & convention audiovisual support within the venue.Provide work direction to employees and help develop them professionally.Responsible for annual budget, managing revenue and expense, and on site inventory management to meet or exceed expectations.Generate and update daily and weekly forms including but not limited to billing, daily equipment "boards", schedules, and forecasts.Meet on-site clients to ensure order accuracy & functionality, assist in set-up and teardown of A/V equipment, coordinate and act as on-site liaison for events.Other duties as assigned to ensure the success of Markey's events.Necessary Skills/RequirementsStrong A/V skills involving operation, set-up, troubleshooting, problem-solving and explanation of equipment.Ability to manage A/V technical staff and all work processes in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).Must have the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast paced work environment, and to delegate work as needed.Computer proficiency in Windows Operating systems and Microsoft Office products.Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with all internal and external customers.Ability to work as part of a team, understand the client's perspective, and have excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times, with the ability to handle stressful situations and lead by example.Must be able to work a flexible schedule as dictated by business needs.Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.Become a part of our team!
