PAUL'S EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCHSt. Paul's Evangelical Free Church is a congregation of 150 active members located in Creve Coeur, Missouri. The church currently has one weekly worship service on Sunday morning with a blended style of both traditional and contemporary music elements. The main sanctuary is home to a 29-rank pipe organ, two grand pianos, and supporting audio equipment.Job Description:The Worship and Music Director, in cooperation with the Lead Pastor, staff, and lay volunteers, coordinates the talent and resources of the church to lead and provide music for worship services. Position responsibilities include oversight and direction of an adult SATB choir, a contemporary worship team, an adult handbell choir, and occasional children's vocal and handbell choirs. The adult vocal choir and handbell choir rehearse weekly and participate in services from Labor Day to Pentecost, while the contemporary worship team rehearses and provides music during services throughout the year. An Organist/Accompanist is also on staff and supports the music ministry of the church year-round. This position is part-time program staff and reports to the Lead Pastor.Responsibilities:Overall responsibility for the administration and direction of both traditional and contemporary music.Provide mature Christian leadership for the choirs and worship team, encouraging them in their personal faith and musical skills development.Work with the Lead Pastor on a weekly basis to develop a coordinated order of worship for Sunday morning services that integrates music with the teaching, bringing the full message of God's word to the congregation.Lead elements of worship such as opening call to worship, prayer, and scripture as desired by the Lead Pastor.Lead weekly rehearsals of the worship team and choirs.Plan and select appropriate music for each group based upon the message of the worship service and the abilities of the musicians. Plan for the adult choir and the worship team to occasionally combine. Obtain input from the Organist/Accompanist on organ and keyboard support to worship.Coordinate the required support from the Audio-Visual Team for worship services.Direct the handbell choir based upon the applicant's skills and gifts; or, alternatively, recruit, develop, and oversee volunteer leaders.Recruit and develop choir and worship team members.Develop plans for music in support of holidays, Lenten services, church events, or special performances.Coordinate soloists and special accompanists as required.Attend weekly staff meetings if available and otherwise participate fully as a member of the ministry staff.Develop and implement a personal plan for continued professional growth/training.Initiate and implement new ideas in coordination with the Lead Pastor.As available, participate in other worship activities during the week.As available, be an active participant in the life of St. Paul's Church.RequirementsSkills Required:A heart for worship, mature Christian faith, and a desire to lead the congregation into the presence of the Lord.Strong musicianship and leadership abilities to direct musical ensembles with the goal of elevating the skills and standards of performance of each group. Experience in leading both choral and contemporary worship groups is desired.Strong knowledge of choral tradition and contemporary worship trends.Ability to organize, develop, and lead music in a meaningful way, creatively incorporating the musical ensembles of the church into the worship service.Excellent communication and organizational skills.An undergraduate degree in music or worship is desired, but not required.Spiritual Requirements:Professes a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and to the local church as an expression of the body of Christ.Maintains a mature Christian faith and is committed to spiritual growth and obedience to scripture.Is compatible with the Statement of Faith of the Evangelical Free Church of America and the mission, vision, and values of St. Paul's Church.Considers prayer/devotional life to be vital to their spiritual journey.Values, honors, and respects all people.Considers this position a ministry calling.#J-18808-Ljbffr
