DescriptionIs this the next step in your career Find out if you are the right candidate by reading through the complete overview below.Manage, according to agreed procedures and standards, the day-to-day workflow of a design team to ensure that all cover, jackets and PLCs (new titles and reprints, in print and digital editions) are designed and artworked to schedule, high quality standards and within controlled budgets.ResponsibilitiesPolice timely (to Key Dates) delivery to the department (from Editorial) of all incoming material (briefs, copy, approvals).Police timely (to Key Dates) production of all department deliverables (visuals, proofs, final files).Working with the divisional production management team ensure adherence to agreed workflows and procedures across all lists.Control team spending by implementing agreed cover design strategies and costs.Maintain design standards across in-house team and freelance suppliers.Assign lists within team (agreed with divisional production management team on an annual basis).Trouble-shoot across lists, throughout project life cycle - providing design guidance and support as needed.Perform QA spot checks on team deliverables.Assist with the recruitment and training of new staff.Act as departmental point of contact.Act as designer on selected titles (list assignment reviewed annually).RequirementsExperience of designing book covers for a specific market.Experience in an academic publishing environment.Detailed knowledge of the production life cycle.Technical expertise (InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat).Ability to manage others - in and out of house.The confidence to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.Excellent organizational and time-management skills.A keen eye for detail and a good head for numbers.LocationCandidates must reside in one of the following states: CA, CO, CT, DC, DE, FL, GA, IL, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI, WV.Equal Opportunity EmploymentBloomsbury Publishing USA is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer.
