Founded in 1913, City of Hope has grown into one of the largest and most advanced cancer research and treatment organizations in the U.S. City of Hope research has been the basis for numerous breakthrough cancer medicines, as well as human synthetic insulin and monoclonal antibodies.The successful candidate:Responsibilities:Developing communication strategies and managing execution including materials development, media outreach and managing internal projects teams including integration of plans across the Marketing and Communications department.Managing outside writers in development of draft news releases, by-lined articles and blog post stories.Developing and leading regular media relations training sessions for high profile doctors, researchers and executive leaders.Developing proactive media relations strategies, identifying and cultivating key media relationships and securing positive press coverage that raises the national and local profile of City of Hope.Planning, creating and securing approval of a range of written content for online and print publications.Achieving consensus on messaging by consulting with clinical experts, City of Hope leaders, as well as members of the Office of Philanthropy.RequirementsBachelor's degree in journalism or related field.Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements.Five years relevant experience in marketing and communications plus 1-2 years of experience in a managerial capacity, including at least one year in health care marketing communications.City of Hope is an equal opportunity employer.
