Born out of an urgent need amid the political, social, and cultural ferment of the late 1960s, the Studio Museum was founded to create a new paradigm in which institutionally ignored artists of color would be seen, discussed, rewarded, and made known to the public. Today, the Studio Museum continues to serve as the nexus for Black artists locally, nationally, and internationally, and for work inspired and influenced by Black culture.Job SummaryAs the Studio Museum prepares to open its new purpose-built museum in the center of Harlem, the Museum seeks a skilled, creative, and entrepreneurial Digital Content and Social Media, Senior Coordinator with experience developing social media campaigns and telling compelling stories across digital platforms. This role will be responsible for collaboratively supporting and executing results-driven digital content and all of the Museum's social media accounts and email channels with the goal of building new audiences while connecting meaningfully to the Museum's local, national, and global community. Reporting to the Marketing and Communications Manager, this role supports storytelling, content creation, audience development, and revenue goals across the institution.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesResponsible for creating, editing, and posting organic and paid social media content with the goal of building new audiences, building connection, and increasing engagement with the Museum's local, national, and global communities.Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications, Curatorial, Learning & Engagement, People & Culture, and Development departments, as well as external partners, to tell institutional and programmatic stories and provide important updates across a monthly email and on social media.Interact and engage with followers, responding appropriately to social media messages, inquiries, and comments.Develop and maintain a cultural calendar and develop smart, timely, and brand appropriate ways of integrating the Museum into art and cultural conversations.Maintain a unified brand voice across different digital media channels based on institutional style guidelines and design templates.Partner with the Graphic Designer to source, develop, and curate engaging content for digital media platforms.Partner with the production team to develop compelling short-form video (reels, etc.) and audio content for social media.Monitor and assess social media channels for industry trends and ensure consistent use of best practices on social media and email platforms are in use.Review and share social engagement analytics; create monthly reports on key metrics and performance indicators.Support the promotion and deployment of Studio Magazine content on social media by working closely with the Graphic Designer, Senior Editor, and Editor in Chief on magazine social strategy.Secure approvals of image rights, music rights, and ensure intellectual property rights are honored in social media.Ensure sponsor recognition on social and email content from Development and Curatorial departments.Assist with department tasks as needed.Skills And QualificationsSocial media enthusiast with demonstrated experience in building and sustaining online communities.Strong copywriting and proofreading skills with ability to adapt brand tone of voice appropriately for social media; editorial and copywriting experience mandatory.Creative thinker and problem solver who can clearly articulate creative ideas, productively reframe challenges to highlight opportunities, and offer clear solutions.Deep understanding of all social platforms, from functionality to advertising products, and experience working with content management systems.Interest and enthusiasm for the work of the Studio Museum and knowledge of art history, and African American studies.Familiarity with Sprout Social, Later, or similar social media management programs.Proficient with email marketing tools.Experience with analytics tools for social media platforms (Meta, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, TikTok, Google Analytics, etc.).Proven project management and multitasking skills and ability to work independently, proactively, collaboratively, and effectively under pressure with a wide variety of Museum staff and outside agencies.Education And ExperienceBachelor's degree and at least three years of experience with social media and digital marketing.Physical DemandsThis position does not have any physical demands.Work EnvironmentThis position is considered a non-exempt position for purposes of federal wage and hour law, which means that you will be eligible for overtime pay for hours in excess of 40 in a given workweek.Fast-paced environment with varying levels of guests and employees present.Building Accessibility - office locations are wheelchair accessible, with elevators in the building. Other accessibility accommodations can be further discussed. Office desks include acrylic partitions.Compensation$55,000 - $65,000 annually. Salary is commensurate with experience within the guidelines of a small not-for-profit.
