Assistant Vice President for Marketing and CommunicationsAll potential candidates should read through the following details of this job with care before making an application.POSITION DETAILSBrooklyn College, a top-ranked public college in The City University of New York system, invites applications for the position of Assistant Vice President for Marketing and Communications.Reporting to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, the Assistant Vice President for Marketing and Communications (AVP) leads an integrated communications strategy that raises the profile and public perception of Brooklyn College. The AVP works closely with the College's senior leadership team, providing leadership and oversight to marketing, brand management, communications, and media relations across all areas of the institution. The Assistant Vice President's functional responsibilities include marketing strategy and integration, digital and interactive communications, visual identity and editorial standards, design and creative services, and media relations to promote the College's priorities, programs, and people.General Duties include but are not limited to:Lead development and implementation of strategic communications, marketing, and media relations activities for the College.Work in close collaboration with the Office of Admissions to oversee the creation of a dynamic, multifaceted admissions marketing strategy that expands enrollment and enhances the reputation of Brooklyn College.Manage the College's website and work collaboratively with key campus stakeholders to develop and update content.Oversee the execution of the College's comprehensive brand and messaging strategy and ensure consistency across the College.Work with the President and the Vice President for Institutional Advancement to articulate the College position on complex and sensitive issues.Manage an annual lineup of print and digital publications for key audiences.Work with the Vice President for Institutional Advancement to create high-quality engagement materials for alumni and donors, the annual fund, and fundraising campaigns; ensure that communications materials are well integrated with advancement objectives.Collaborate with faculty, students, and staff to foster coordinated College communications and marketing activities that promote faculty accomplishments and student achievement.Generate positive media coverage about Brooklyn College and serve as official spokesperson to the press.Manage and mentor professional marketing and communications staff to be a high-functioning and integrated unit.Manage a comprehensive, data-driven assessment process, using clear metrics to measure efficacy of marketing activities. Assess College-wide investments in marketing and communications, and advise the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and senior leadership on the priority deployment of resources to maximize results.Oversee College crisis communications plan, working closely with the Director of Campus Safety and other senior administrators.Maintain regular internal communications that keep students, faculty, and staff abreast of important campus news and priorities.Represent the College with the City University of New York on matters related to marketing and communications and coordinate with members of the chancellery on broad issues that affect the university as a whole.Perform other related duties as assigned by the Vice President for Institutional Advancement.QUALIFICATIONSThis position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience, preferably in higher education.Master's degree in marketing, public relations, journalism, or related field a plus.Extensive experience in a marketing and communications leadership role, managing cross-functional teams and overseeing all aspects of marketing strategy and achieving performance results.Demonstrated ability to develop integrated strategies and plans in complex organizations with diverse stakeholder groups.Effective leader with experience managing communications teams responsible for broad range of functions, including digital marketing, brand management, websites, design, writing and editing, media relations, executive communications, and project management.Track record of success creating innovative marketing strategies and utilizing new technologies and approaches to advance college priorities.A creative problem solver and results-driven catalyst for improvement.A demonstrated commitment to the mission of educational success for first-generation college students.CUNY TITLEAssistant Vice PresidentCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS$175,000 - $182,000; Salary commensurate with education and experience.CUNY's benefits contribute significantly to total compensation, supporting health and wellness, financial well-being, and professional development.
