Reporting directly to our Director of Finance, and hired as our first Accounting Manager, you'll be an essential part of our tight-knit team, working alongside leadership and our parent/sister companies. Together, we'll ensure City Cast maintains high financial standards while driving forward with growth and sustainability.You'll get the best of both worlds here - the dynamic nimbleness and agility of a start-up, coupled with the resources and backing of Graham Holdings Company (NYSE: GHC), a publicly traded conglomerate with a strong financial foundation.Application Deadline: Friday, October 11thAbout The Role:You'll take full ownership of our accounting processes, currently managed by our sister company, Slate. You'll manage multiple general ledger functions, run month-end close, prepare financial statements, process receivables, and spot opportunities for improvement. With the anticipated growth of City Cast, you'll get the chance to lead the way in building a stellar accounting team.Key Responsibilities:Full Cycle AccountingPartner with the Director of Finance to bring accounting in-housePrepare month-end entries pertaining but not limited to: ad sales and subscription revenue recognition, payroll allocations, expense accruals & reversals, reclasses, prepaids, purchasing cards, and reconciliationsManage month-end and year-end close processes in accordance with internal and parent company deadlinesMonitor and process accounts receivable and billingsEnsure GAAP compliance and other relevant financial regulationsAccurate AnalysisSupport FP&A in financial data analysis (variances, irregularities, etc.)Monitor cash flow and assist in cash forecastingPrepare ad hoc reports as requestedPartnership & ManagementCollaborate with Director of Finance to evaluate and implement improvements to City Cast's accounting processesWork with revenue team to track ad sales deliveries and accurate revenue recognitionWork with operations teams and sister company payment processor to track invoices, payments, and p-card transactionsAs accounting at City Cast develops, supervise and mentor junior staffBuild meaningful relationships with business and operations leaders to foster collaboration and drive successPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field. CPA is a plus.Full cycle accountingThorough grasp of GAAP, ASC 606, and financial management principlesTechnical knowledge in at least one major ERP (ex: Oracle EBS, NetSuite, SAP)Strong proficiency in Microsoft ExcelHigh ethical standards and integrity in financial reporting and complianceExceptional attention to detailExcellent communication skills, written and verbal, with ability to relay financial information to non-financial stakeholdersTeam player with a kind and positive attitudePrior accounting work in podcasting, digital media, and/or entertainment spaceFamiliarity with ad sales and membership revenue - including CRM tools such as HubSpot or Salesforce - and payment platforms such as Stripe is another plusRequired:5+ years of accounting experienceApplicants must be legally authorized to work in and physically located in the United States.This position is full-time and remote, with excellent benefits. The salary range is $110,000 to $125,000, depending on experience.
