Your Job:As Senior Corporate Counsel, Employment, you will lead the employment law function globally, including in the U.S. and Asia regions. You will be responsible for providing well-informed, timely, effective, hands-on, and practical legal guidance to leaders and teammates across the company. You will be an integral part of the business, acting to protect the company's interests in all aspects of its employment compliance. You will interact directly with teams to provide thoughtful and strategic advice on handling a wide variety of employment issues. You will be familiar with business operations and objectives in order to identify, analyze, and develop strategies to resolve complex legal issues arising from employment laws and regulations. You will be a leader on the Brooks Legal team, working with the General Counsel and other Legal team members to run all legal functions for the business.Responsibilities:Lead the employment law function globally, including U.S. and Asia regionsIdentify how changes in the law impact company policies and practices and partner with clients to implement practical solutionsProvide advice and counsel to all HR teams and leaders across the organization on a broad spectrum of topics such as wage and hour, payroll, benefits, hiring, performance management, internal investigations, leaves of absence, discipline, terminations, employee classification, non-competes, and employee privacyProvide expert legal advice related to the company's documents, including employment agreements, contracts, company policies, and employee handbooksOversee and manage outside litigation counsel and related legal budgetsOversee and manage all agency charges, government investigations, audits, and pre-litigation disputesFormulate and execute litigation strategy (including administrative proceedings), discovery, motion practice, and trialDevelop and conduct training programs for HR Business Partners, employees, and people managersImplement, oversee, and maintain a structured process for managing Brooks' independent contractors/contingent workers, including guidance for transitioning to full time employment or pausing contractsBe a leader on the Legal team, acting as a mentor to teammates tand training and mentoring non-attorneys regarding legal concepts and employment practicesQualifications:Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school requiredMembership in at least one U.S. state bar10+ years of attorney experience. Prior inhouse and litigation experience a plusStrong knowledge of state and federal laws, and excellent research skillsAbility to evaluate and weigh legal and business issues effectively and realisticallyEmpathetic and able to exercise good judgement and active listening skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to explain legal situations clearly and concisely to clients and other non-lawyers and motivate them to take appropriate actionsAbility to present, negotiate, and communicate with confidence to key stakeholders and executivesExcellent interpersonal skills that inspire and build trust resulting in effective working relationships across the company and with external partnersAbility to achieve optimum legal and business outcomes in a timely manner by focusing on key objectives, seeking efficient legal solutions, prioritizing multiple matters and issues, and avoiding unnecessary disputesCompensation: The pay range for this position, based out of the Brooks Seattle HQ, is $165,928-$265,505 per year.
