Under the direction of the Downtown Development Authority Board of Directors of the City of Caro, the Executive Director performs a broad range of highly complex projects which support the objectives and functions of the Downtown Development Authority. Performing research for ongoing and special projects as well as assisting in developing strategic goals and implementing policies and initiatives or operational modifications related to community and economic vitality within the development districts, and surrounding area. The Executive Director serves as the Chief Executive Officer, supporting the Downtown Development Board and the Executive Committee, by directing activities, programs, initiatives, and objectives. The Director is not an employee of the City of Caro but is provided benefits and services within the established parameters as such.Considering applying for this job Do not delay, scroll down and make your application as soon as possible to avoid missing out.Position Summary:The Downtown Development Authority Executive Director may be responsible for any or all, of the following: (these are examples and do not include all tasks which may be expected)Serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Caro Downtown development Authority, attending all DDA meetings, and preparing, and presenting all agenda items to the Board.Serves as the spokesperson and/ or liaison to the City of Caro, Caro Area Chamber of Commerce, and other local organizations and the public in matters pertaining to Downtown Development Authority business.Research and drafts standard and special reports, including annual reports, and project summaries and communicates relevant information, and reports to the appropriate party.Develops operating policies and procedures including facilitation of duties of support and/ or contracted staff related to the Downtown Development Authority.Develops and administers the Downtown Development Authority Annual Budget.Oversees Downtown Development programming as well as community and economic development activities, including the creation and maintenance of commercial district resources.Researches, analyzes, and formulates recommendations regarding a wide variety of new economic development initiatives.Fosters positive relationships with residents, community groups, business leaders, local and state-wide, and regional government officials, the media and the general public.Reviews professional and academic literature and related periodicals. Identifies important articles and areas of interest and utilizes information to improve the quality of the DDA.Keeps abreast of current issues, legislation, policies, and developments in community and economic and business development as well as placemaking, planning and administration through continued education and professional growth opportunities. Attending conferences, workshops, seminars, and webinars, and joining associations/ membership groups as appropriate.Manages the Caro Farmers Market and other projects and events, coordinating all functions, including vendor registration, contracted and volunteer services, community engagement, and social media platforms.May supervise subordinate employees, vendors, contractors, and the like in all Downtown Development Authority activities/ projects.KSAs: (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, abilities and minimum qualifications necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the job.Valid Michigan Driver's License.Knowledge of the principles and practice of municipal administration, and skill in providing administrative support to such activities.Knowledge of government operations, public administration, budgeting practices, grant writing and administration, public relations, programming, community & economic development.Skills in developing, implementing and maintaining procedures to enhance efficiency.Ability to establish effective working relationships and use good judgement, initiative and resourcefulness when dealing with the public, business and community interests,elected and appointed officials, other employees, volunteers and professional contacts.Education & Experience:The Executive Director must possess a formal education and experience in public administration, business administration, management, planning, community engagement & economic development. Significant experience with existing and relevant commercial industries, and community leaders, The City of Caro Downtown Development Authority reserves the right to consider any combination of education and experience, at its discretion, including paid and unpaid internships, and the like as relevant experience.Compensation:Salary is negotiable based on experience.
