By emphasizing cutting-edge and transformational research along with a commitment to the success of all students, UIC embodies the dynamic, vibrant and engaged urban university.Position SummaryThe Senior Director of Prospect Development and Analytics (SD) is critical in achieving UIC's philanthropic and engagement goals by designing, implementing, and leading a comprehensive prospect development program that includes portfolio management, prospect research, and data analytics. The SD leads a team of professionals focused on identifying, researching, and managing prospects and donors for UIC's advancement efforts, leveraging data to optimize portfolios and build a robust and sustainable donor pipeline. This role reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Advancement Operations, Talent & Culture (AVC) and works closely with executive and senior leadership across the organization.Duties & ResponsibilitiesLeads prospect identification, analysis, research, prospect management, and data efforts to ensure strategic support of UIC's fundraising priorities, goals, and campaigns.Develops and executes long- and short-term departmental goals and strategies to ensure portfolio movement and pipeline development aligned with broader University Advancement objectives and fundraising strategies.Serves as the primary resource for prospect and portfolio management and pipeline development by maintaining an overall knowledge of the university's top prospects.Leverages industry knowledge to lead collaborative and strategic conversations with executive leadership in establishing, monitoring, and improving UIC's approach to prospect development and portfolio management.Develops and socializes policies and procedures that ensure the proper operation of the prospect pipeline, portfolio optimization, and tracking.Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with departments and teams across UIF, UIC, and the UI system to represent and advocate for UIC OVCA's best interests.Establishes and maintains productive relationships with internal OVCA teams such as alumni relations, stewardship & donor relations, and annual giving.In collaboration with the Data Analytics Manager, builds and maintains dashboards and other information systems to track fundraising metrics.Oversees workflow and resource deployment of prospect development specialists assigned to UIC.Serves as liaison to UIF departments, committees, and working groups related to prospect management, portfolio management, research, data integrity, and reporting capabilities.Hires, trains, develops and manages staff to ensure that qualified staff exists to meet group objectives.Manages and assists the portfolio management team in executing portfolio management duties.Oversees the process by which prospects are referred to gift officers and ensures timely follow-up.Assists the Associate Vice Chancellor for Advancement, Health Affairs with developing and implementing a successful grateful patient prospecting process and pipeline.Maintains involvement with professional development associations to ensure the latest trends and best practices are considered.Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree or foreign equivalentEight years of relevant experience requiredKnowledge and understanding of fundraising prospect management principles and methodsExperience with fundraising databases and softwareExperience in managing/supervising a teamStrong strategic thinking, project management, and training skillsAbility to set priorities and exercise critical thinking skills to determine the best use of resources.Preferred QualificationsFamiliarity with higher education developmentExperience in a complex fundraising environmentPersonal initiative, entrepreneurial spirit, flexibility, and strong problem-solving skillsAbility to combine the art of fundraising with the science of data.Ability to interpret, analyze, and synthesize information and appropriately communicate it.For fullest consideration, please apply by October 25, 2024 directly on the UIC Job Board.
