Henry Ford College presents an opportunity for a Part-Time WHFR Radio Coordinator/Manager: Head Music DirectorNot sure what skills you will need for this opportunity Simply read the full description below to get a complete picture of candidate requirements.This position is for a part-time head music director for the non-commercial radio and Internet station, WHFR-FM. This is one of the areas that comprises the WHFR Officer make-up, which runs the station under the direction of the General Manager.This position will help coordinate and mentor our over 60 WHFR students and volunteers at Henry Ford College and the Telecommunication and Journalism programs over our airwaves and in our community. This position provides not only real-world experience at that level for educational purposes, but also an opportunity to use this job to build a portfolio and resume of broadcast and Internet radio experience once someone moves beyond Henry Ford College.Hours: 18.5 hours per week.The ideal candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:Demonstrated job skills/experience for the position.Potential to learn the job skills of the position.Ability to work well with WHFR volunteer staff and station officers.Excellent communication skills, including computer literacy.Time availability, especially for the weekly officer meeting.Dependability and punctuality.Positive attitude.Experience in the area is ideal, as is some broadcast experience, with WHFR or another non-commercial station.Responsibilities:Maintenance of day-to-day music library and digital music server.Acquiring, receiving, cataloging, and reviewing all music at the station.Supporting the creation and maintenance of recorded spots and shows for use.Support of WHFR area music director staff in music acquisition and selection.Frontline coordination of incoming music management for WHFR with independent artists, production companies, and music labels.Enhancing/growing the underserved music genre's libraries.Support in setup and staffing of WHFR promo and recruitment tables.Supporting WHFR's presence at special events, including but not limited to: Concert of Colors, Dearborn Homecoming Festival, WHFR Record Show, Radiothon.Other duties, as assigned.While we have attempted to capture the core functional responsibilities in the role, the statements contained in this job announcement reflect general details as necessary to describe the principal functions of this job, the level of knowledge and skill typically required, and the scope of responsibility.
