Come change the world with us!The Electrical Engineer is accountable for developing and designing battery management system electronics and controls for newly built energy storage systems, as well as maintaining existing designs and support the creation of automated test equipment for the product components.ResponsibilitiesLow level circuit design with electrical isolation, microcontroller controls and analog front-endCircuit board layout with high-impedance analog signals and creepageclearances for high voltageDesign to meet safety certification standards, such as ULVerification testing of electronics component and overall product designsGeneration of reports on design decisions and verification testing results and findingsMaintain project documentation and assist in creating Operation ManualsSupports manufacturing and field operations with technical problems on released productsProvides technical guidance to engineering personnel, manufacturing, and field operations.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility design electrical circuit boards, including testingAbility to work in lab environment and understand how components fit into a larger systemWorking knowledge of embedded control systems and their applicationsSolid software development skills with C, C++ and optionally the Linux operating systemStrong troubleshooting skills for diagnosis and design improvementFamiliarity with design for EMC and availability to trace down EMI issuesAwareness of safety certification process to standards such as ULCompetent skills with communications protocols such as TCPIP, CAN, i²C and SPI; use of ModbusCapability to select and integrate off-the-shelf component and equipmentStrong cross-discipline system skillsUnderstanding of hardware and physical system being controlled is requiredComfort and experience with the hazard and safety protocols of high voltage equipment and other aspects of working with large-scale battery systemsAbility to self-direct to a goal and achieve independent successA team-player attitude and strong writtenverbal communication skills are a mustEducation and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Electric Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology requiredMinimum of 5 years of experience requiredAdditional ExperienceHardware and design, debug, and testing. PCB design.Minimum five years' experience designed electronics and developing automated controlsEngineering Design Software: EAGLE, IAR or similar softwareEmbedded programming, communication interfaces; I²C, RS-485, CAN bus communication, Modbus TCP, remote IO, or flex IO systems (Moxa, Allen Bradley, SEL, Advantech), PLC programming experience, GDB or other debugging tools.Linux, embedded systemsHigh voltage electrical systems
