Certification Details BLS New York State RN License Chemotherapy Administration Certification Job Details Performs chemo, therapeutic treatments and blood transfusions and phlebotomy procedures. The Registered Nurse (RN) provides and coordinates the care of patients/families and significant others in the ambulatory care setting by assessing, diagnosing, planning and intervening in actual or potential health problems, including evaluation of the patient's response to the care. Responsible for all unit enabling operations including patient flow, assignment, ordering and medical record prep. Triage all sick and walk-in patients. Responsible for telephone communication, telephone triage, communicate test results in collaboration with provider including appropriate follow-up. Assist with procedures. Administer oral/IM/IV/SQ/Inhaled medications. Administer blood and blood products, specific to specialty areas. Performs treatments such as: chemotherapy administration, conscious sedation and other procedures specific to specialty practices. Job Requirements Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in New York Experience in oncology nursing preferred Additional Details Accesses and maintains central lines/ports for blood drawing and medication administration. Provides and initiates respiratory interventions according to standards. Coordinates delegates and/or provides all other patient care activities. Initiates CPR. Coordinates in-patient admissions and ER referrals. Identifies learning family/patient needs, including level of comprehension. Informs about treatments, tests, preps, OR procedures. Instructs on home and self-care. Evaluates client outcomes through return demonstration and/or verbalization of understanding. Maintains an environment that is conducive to meeting patient care needs and that facilitates patient flow. Promotes and provides for patient safety in accordance with state and federal guidelines. Practices and monitors infection control. Maintains a clean, quiet, organized patient care environment. Demonstrates a professional, courteous, and respectful attitude in dealing with patients families and significant others. May be required to perform other duties as assigned or perform other duties when necessary.
