Job Title: Office Manager As the principal economic development agency in McLean County, the Bloomington-Normal Economic Development Council (BNEDC) serves 22 municipalities and nearly 170,000 residents. Bloomington Normal is widely considered one of the most vibrant economies in the midwest, anchored by such prestigious employers as State Farm Insurance, Country Financial, Rivian Automotive, and Illinois State University. The BNEDC is charged with strategically leveraging all of the existing community assets to grow the local economy and enhance our region's quality of life.Governed by a Board of Directors comprised of community leaders from business, education, labor, and government, the EDC is supported by nearly 70 investor organizations. Guided by its core mission to proactively drive growth in the local economy through local business expansion and new business attraction, the BNEDC provides a wide variety of programs and services designed to promote economic development. Established in 2003, the BNEDC has become a respected and valued organization within McLean County and has already had a profound and lasting impact on the prosperity of Bloomington, Normal, and McLean County. Job Summary:Reporting to the CEO, the Office Manager forwards the mission of the Bloomington-Normal Economic Development Council, its Board, Executive Committee, and CEO by coordinating office services, managing finances, leading human resources, organizing the Board of Directors, and handling investor recruitment and communications. Duties and Responsibilities (All essential job functions are listed below):Perform bookkeeping functions, payroll administration, financial report preparation, and record retentionServe as office manager coordinating office services, administrative, and maintenance needsMaintain organization operating practices, record-keeping systems, personnel, and budgetary requirements, project management processes, and performance standards to design and implement new strategies andor revise established proceduresPrepare the annual budget by analyzing organization income and expendituresServe as human resource director and maintains all personnel filesAdminister the employee benefits program, including medical coverage review and annual plan selectionHandle filling employee vacancies, including posting positions, collecting resumes, interviewing applicants, and onboarding new employeesCoordinate and manage quarterly economic update luncheons including logistics, financials, communications, registration, and event executionCoordinate the annual One Voice Program, including logistics, financials, communications, registration, projects, and event executionManage and supports specific ongoing projects and eventsHandle communications with the BNEDC Board of DirectorsTracks Board Member terms, schedules meetings, prepares materials, and records minutes of board meetings and other meetingsProvide staff assistance to the chair and members of the Board of Directors and other committees of the BNEDCHandle BNEDC investor recruitment, communications, invoicing, and payment recordsComplete a variety of special projects and other assignments as directed by the CEO and assist in the coordination of EDC projects and events Other Duties:Attend meetings in place of EDC staff members, reporting activities and outcomes in detail upon returnAssist other staff members when needed Education and Experience:Associates or bachelor's degree from an accredited collegeuniversity preferred.Minimum of five years' experience in a similar position preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge and skill in the use of computers and computer software, such as QuickBooks, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, project management, and presentation programsKnowledge of office equipment and processesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsSuperior organizational skills and attention to detailGood analytical skills along with a working knowledge of research techniques and methodsAbility to complete assigned tasks on time with only general instructions and with minimal supervisionAbility to communicate with offices and leaders of other companies and organizations in the community and outside the community in a productive, professional mannerAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyAbility to work effectively as part of a teamAbility to maintain confidentiality as requested Physical Demands:Operate standard office equipmentUse computer extensively with required visual acuityTravel, as needed Additional Requirements:Periodic weekend and weeknight commitmentsOngoing Economic Development education Salary and Benefits:Annual salary $45,000 to $65,000 (based on education and experience)Employee medical, dental, and vision coverageMatching retirement planInternational Economic Development Council (IEDC) trainingDog-friendly office For more information about the BNEDC, visit interested, please submit your resume to Patrick Hoban at
