The CDD Analyst II is responsible for supporting the administration of the CIP, Customer Due Diligence, and Enhanced Due Diligence program for Amerant BankResponsibilities:Assist in the development and implementation of an enterprise-wide system for obtaining information required by the bank's Customer Identification Program (CIP), Customer Due Diligence and Enhanced Due Diligence (CDDEDD) Program.Assist the CCD Supervisor in recognizing weaknesses in the CIP, CDDEDD program and making recommendations for enhancements. Also, assist the CDD Supervisor with management reporting.Perform analytical reviews on a range of high risk customer types detected at account opening to determine if the customer risk is accurate. Collect enhanced due diligence information and complete risk matrices for specific customer types. Report due diligence findings to the CDD Supervisor to assess whether the risk is too heightened to continue to the relationship. Recommend customers for closure andor for further investigation where risk tolerances are exceeded based on EDD reviews.Must have a strong working knowledge of various business structures in the U.S., Latin America, and offshore countries. Performs analysis of complex corporate structures, including those that are multi-layered in multiple jurisdictions. Reviews articles of incorporation, trust documents, and other corporate ownership documents to determine customer ownership and interactions with affiliates and subsidiaries.Perform quality control testing of annual and other event driven reviews of the due diligence completed on customers by the account officer and business line BSA liaison. Reviews Know Your Customer (KYC) and Know Your Account (KYA) account profiles for completeness, accuracy, and consistency.Creates risk acceptance documentation to support the raising or downgrading of high-risk customers for management approval.Utilizes relationship management skills to build business relationships with BSA team members and business line managers. Effectively communicates to bank personnel weaknesses identified in customer and transaction profiles.Provide subject matter expert support to the various business and operations lines related to regulatory requirements affecting the Bank's customer due diligence and enhanced due diligence program.Where necessary, provide support to CDD Analyst in their daily duties.Ensures that EDD compliance files are maintained, thoroughly documents, and AML risks are responded to in a timely manner and mitigated where applicable.Assist in the review of OFAC alerts and completion of FINCEN 314(a) information requests. This includes obtaining and reviewing reports of potential OFAC matches. Provides documented reports on a timely basis to CDD Supervisor for approval.Assist in the mentoring and training of the CDDEDD Unit staff to ensure achievement of BSA objectives and professional development. Minimum Education andor Certifications Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Banking or Finance, and specific banking institute courses. Certified Anti-Money Laundering (CAMS) certification. Minimum Work Experience Requirements:3+ years of experience in BSA and International Banking. Experience in risk management field, and proven ability to support the development of the business activities while robustly applying risk management disciplines and controls.Technical andor Other Essential Knowledge: Proficient in InfoImage, Nautilus, Payplus, AS-400, Fiserv & Datapro, SQN, Lexis-Nexis, and Assist CK. Proficiency using Microsoft Office 365 products including MS Word, MS Visio, MS Excel, MS Teams, and MS PowerPoint
