This position is responsible for financial analysis, financial reporting, data entry, and the preparation of financial statements to ensure the city's fiscal health and compliance with regulations. As a key leader in the organization, the Director of Finance will mentor, coach, and guide a team of finance professionals while fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement. This role requires a detail-oriented and analytical professional with strong leadership skills and a commitment to public service. Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Reporting Oversee financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state and federal regulations. Conduct financial analysis and forecasting to support budgeting and strategic decision-making. Prepare and present financial statements, budget reports, and other financial documents to city leadership. Manage the city's general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions. Ensure timely and accurate data entry of financial transactions. Leadership & Staff Development Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities for finance team members. Foster a collaborative work environment that encourages efficiency and innovation. Oversee recruitment, training, and performance evaluations within the finance department. Budgeting & Compliance Assist in the preparation and administration of the city's annual budget. Ensure compliance with all financial policies, regulations, and government accounting standards. Coordinate with external auditors and oversee annual audits. Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). Experience: Minimum of 5 years in financial management, preferably in government or public sector finance. Skills: Strong knowledge of financial analysis, reporting, and budget management. Experience with data entry and financial systems. Leadership and team development abilities. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial software, and ERP systems. Work Environment This is a fully onsite position, requiring regular interaction with city officials, department heads, and staff.
