Overview of the Construction Purchasing Manager Role: As a Construction Purchasing Manager, you'll be responsible for overseeing and developing a high-performing team of Purchasing Coordinators. This role offers the opportunity to be pivotal in managing procurement operations, fostering relationships with vendors, and ensuring smooth and efficient purchasing processes. Key responsibilities of the Construction Purchasing Manager include: Lead, develop, and mentor a team of Purchasing Coordinators to ensure optimal performance and professional growth. Manage and negotiate pricing and terms with material and service vendors, ensuring the best value for the company. Cultivate strong, collaborative relationships with vendors and field operations teams to streamline communication and resolve any challenges. Oversee daily operations within the purchasing department, ensuring targets and deadlines are met consistently. Onboard new material and service vendors into NetSuite, maintaining up-to-date records for smooth operations. Review and evaluate daily purchase requests from the field operations team, ensuring accuracy and timely processing. Generate and issue Purchase Orders (POs) within NetSuite, closely tracking their progress to guarantee timely materials delivery. Monitor temporary labor hours, collaborating with the field operations team and vendors to prevent overtime and ensure budget adherence. Work with temp agencies to verify new hires' eligibility and communicate with field operations and HR to facilitate seamless onboarding. Approve new material and service vendors, ensuring they meet company standards and requirements. Maintain open communication with the field operations team regarding the status and estimated arrival of shipments. Collect and verify material receipts from the field, ensuring that orders are accurately processed and recorded in NetSuite. Coordinate the request and processing of necessary business licenses to maintain compliance. Preferred Qualifications for the Construction Purchasing Manager Role: An AA or AS degree or equivalent experience is preferred. A minimum of two years of purchasing experience reis quired. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with both internal teams and external vendors. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Docs and experience with NetSuite is a bonus.
