Job Title: Accountant, Government Grant Billing Location: New York, NY (Hybrid; 3 days in, 2 days WFH) About:CFS is working with a non-profit organization in New York City dedicated to ending homelessness. They are looking to add an Accounting to their team in respect to government grant billing. Focus: They primarily focus on developing and managing supportive housing, which combines affordable housing with on-site services like mental health counseling, job training, and case management. Impact: They have created thousands of housing units across the city, providing stable homes for individuals and families experiencing homelessness, particularly those with mental illness, HIVAIDS, and other challenges. Mission: Their mission is to strengthen individuals and communities by providing high-quality housing and support services. About the Accountant, Government Grant Billing Role:Our client is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join their team! In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring accurate and timely billing of government grants. You will be responsible for reviewing grant agreements, tracking expenditures, preparing complex invoices, and maintaining meticulous records. Key Responsibilities: Review and interpret complex government grant agreements, including terms and conditions, allowable costs, and reporting requirements. Track grant expenditures, ensuring compliance with budget and allowable cost guidelines. Prepare accurate and timely invoices to government funding agencies, including supporting documentation. Monitor grant budgets, identify potential budget variances, and proactively address any issues. Maintain detailed records of all grant-related transactions and supporting documentation. Prepare and submit required grant reports to funding agencies, ensuring compliance with all reporting deadlines and requirements. Assist with grant audits and respond to any audit inquiries. Stay abreast of changes in government grant regulations and funding opportunities. Collaborate with program staff to ensure accurate and timely reporting of program activities. Other duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications Of The Accountant Government Grant Biller: Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred 2+ years of experience in government grant accounting or a related field preferred Experience with government grant regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., Uniform Guidance). Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as pivot tables and vlookups. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
