One of our financial clients in NYC is hiring for a Mainframe Application Manager to sit in Lower Manhattan 3-4 days a week. This role requires a rich background and understanding of COBOL, zOS development background and knowledge of both legacy and modern systems. This role is full time, direct hire and looking to interview as soon as possible. Must Haves:-8+ years working with legacy mainframe and distributed systems -Experience successfully managing small teams-Strong background with technologies such as Cobol, JCL, VSE, MVS, SQL, and API's-Broad understanding of financial products (such as securities, trade processing, clearance and settlement, balancing etc.)-Ability to understand the different impacts of changes and modifications to systems on the business-Great ability to assess and manage risk-Strong and clear communication and ability to interact with both technical and business teamsPlusses:-Previous experience leading a modernization project-Experience with languages such as Java or .NETDay-to-Day:Insight Global's financial services client is looking for a Mainframe Application Manager to join their organization. This person will report into the Application Development Managing Director, and for the next two years learn and shadow in order to take over the group when the MD retires. The Mainframe Application Manager will be responsible for planning and allocating resources to meet productivity and quality goals while improving business processes for enhanced efficiency. They will represent the department in leadership meetings to gather requirements and conduct regular status updates on development efforts. This role involves empowering employees through delegation and accountability while fostering teamwork that values diverse perspectives and constructive conflict resolution. The manager will develop an employee-oriented culture focused on quality, continuous improvement, and high performance. They will also maintain employee work schedules including assignments, training, and absence coverage, while ensuring transparent communication through various channels.
