GEM has a collaborative and entrepreneurial culture that rewards hard work and integrity and provides continued opportunities for professional growth.Position OverviewGEM Realty Securities (GRS) manages approximately $1 billion of AUM across multiple strategies, including hedged and long-only mandates. We are seeking a talented, goal-oriented, highly motivated Investment Research Associate to support our senior investment team. In this role, you will engage directly with the GRS Co-CIOs as a valued contributor to our investment research process. The GRS environment is dynamic and collaborative with opportunities to travel to conferences and company meetings, gain experience in unique asset classes within real estate and be exposed to the GEM ecosystem. Rigorous technical and analytical capabilities, strong initiative, teamwork, and effective communication skills are essential for success in this role.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct in-depth analysis of real estate fundamentals and trends to assess impact on property sectors and public companies coveredDevelop, maintain, and communicate key fundamental inputs and cash flow modelsCreate original processes to generate differentiated analysis and out-of-consensus investment theme ideasRapidly analyze news and concisely convey pertinent information to Investment TeamComplete rigorous, Excel-based financial modeling, attend conferences, management meetings and market tours, and utilize GRS's research technology and proprietary data to drive investment decision makingCultivate relationships with real estate professionals, building upon GEM's differentiated industry-wide networkPreferred Qualifications2-4 years of financial analysis experience; previous public or private real estate analysis is strongly preferredStrong financial modeling and forecasting background with excellent quantitative and analytical skillsDemonstrated proficiency with Bloomberg and ExcelWorking knowledge of programming languages and data analysisvisualization tools a plusAbility to communicate ideas with precision, passion, and convictionIntellectual curiosity and an independent thinker willing to challenge consensus viewsCompensationIt is expected that the base annual salary range for this Chicago-based position will be $100,000-$125,000. Actual salary for this position will vary based on factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role.
