Kopin has developed and commercialized game-changing technologies such as heterojunction bipolar transistors (HBT) which power billions of cellphones, and microdisplays which have brought vivid images to more than 30 million consumer electronics and military night vision devices.Today Kopin is focused on providing critical components and subsystems for wearable computing systems for military, enterprise, industrial and consumer products.Our people here at Kopin are our most valuable asset and as part of the team you will be engaged in meaningful work!The Payroll Administrator will accurately process payroll, ensure timely payments, manage payroll deductions, and federal and state tax withholdings, maintain accurate payroll records, and ensure adherence to all relevant tax and compliance regulations.JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Implements, maintains and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions• Partners with Human Resources to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates• Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions. • Review and verify payroll data in a proactive timely manner as defined by the payroll guidelines• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices• Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors• Responds to employee questions regarding their paychecks and deductions• Calculates and deducts 401k contributions, ensures accurate and timely transmission of funds to Plan. Performs general tasks for 401k plan administration, assists with annual audit• Maintains Human Resources personnel files• Create journal entries related to payroll transactions• Reconcile payroll tax liabilities to general ledger accounts and investigate and resolve any discrepancies• Collaborate with the finance team to provide commentary on flux and trends• Provide standard and ad-hoc payroll reports to various internal departments • Develop and maintain internal controls related to payroll tax processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency• Performs other duties as assignedJOB REQUIREMENTS: • REQUIRED: Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident. As a defense contractor, Kopin is subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and you must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident (green card holder) to be considered for this position• High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred but not required. • 5 to 8 years of payroll processing experience required• Experience with the ADP Payroll System required• Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes• Understanding of federal and state payroll tax laws• Understands the confidentiality of payroll information and always upholds this confidentiality• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel• Strong mathematical and financial skills• Reliability and honesty• Excellent written and verbal communication skills• Outstanding time management skills.• Customer service and conflict resolution skillsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
