Elliot Health System - Pulmonary Function Technician - Full Time at Elliot Health System summary: The Pulmonary Function Technician at Elliot Health System is responsible for conducting a variety of pulmonary function tests and assisting in bronchoscopy procedures under provider orders. This role requires an associate degree and necessary certifications, alongside a commitment to staying updated on advancements in respiratory therapy. The technician works independently, performing vital tests and analyses on patients across all age groups to support respiratory health. POSITION SUMMARY Provides a wide range of pulmonary function testing and bronchoscopy, as directed by a provider's order. This individual works independently as a licensed clinician. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs pulmonary function testing including spirometry, diffusion capacity, airway resistance, lung volumes, respiratory muscle strength, field walking tests, stress testing, bronchoscopy and high-altitude simulation testing Performs oxygen titration. Draws, analyzes, and interprets arterial blood gases. Performs CPR and airway management. Assists physician with fiberoptic bronchoscopy. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education - Minimum of an associate degree and passed CRT or RRT exam. Licensure/certification - State of New Hampshire Respiratory Care practitioner license required at date of hire. BLS and ACLS certification required prior to clinical orientation. NBRC Certified or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist Credential must be attained within 6 months of hire. Experience - One-year clinical experience preferred. Trained and competent to perform all necessary procedures on a population of pediatrics, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Knowledge - Maintains knowledge of recent advances in medical principles of respiratory therapy equipment, procedures, and drugs. Demonstrates knowledge of specialized examination and tests associate with respiratory therapy and understand the reasons for the individual patient's needs and respiratory therapy plan.
