Our client is a leading subsidiary of a global automotive parts manufacturer, specializing in high-quality trim and sealing components for vehicle body structures. Having steadily built a reputation as one of the most recognizable automotive parts manufacturers, they are expanding their local US team and seeking a Product Engineer.As a Product Engineer for MoldingExterior Trim, you will be responsible for supporting product development, optimizing manufacturing processes, and ensuring the highest quality standards in molding applications. Working in a collaborative and multicultural environment, you will focus on molding and trim applications, including roof moldings, weatherstrips, and sealing systems, ensuring seamless integration with vehicle structures and efficient production processes.If you possess expertise in molding and trim applications, including extrusion, roll forming, and sealing systems, along with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, APQP, PPAP, and DFM principles, we would love to hear from you. Experience in Honda OEM or other Japanese OEMSupplier environments is highly preferred. Japanese language skills are a plus!Responsibilities:Develop, optimize, and implement manufacturing processes for molding, weatherstrips, seals, and other trim applications in an automotive environment.Provide technical guidance during the product development phase to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, tooling, and production, to support seamless product launches.Evaluate and improve existing production processes to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and maintain high-quality standards.Identify and resolve production-related challenges through root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.Support APQP, PPAP, and DFM processes to ensure compliance with customer and industry requirements.Oversee tooling design and modifications, ensuring alignment with product specifications and manufacturing capabilities.Conduct process validations and capability studies to ensure the robustness and repeatability of manufacturing processes.Assist in the development and execution of lean manufacturing initiatives, including 5S and Six Sigma methodologies.Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production efficiency, quality, and cost.Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related field) with 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering.Strong understanding of manufacturing processes for trim molding applications, including extrusion, roll forming, and sealing systems.Proficiency in process improvement tools, such as root cause analysis, value stream mapping, and statistical process control (SPC).Familiarity with GD&T, APQP, PPAP, and DFM principles.Experience working with tooling for molding and extrusion processes.Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.Excellent communication and organizational skills to interact with cross-functional teams and suppliers.Location: Troy, MI (Hybrid Remote)Term: Full-Time, Permanent Rate: $90,000 - $115,000 PA - Negotiable on Experience Benefits: Bonus Program, Excellent PTO and Holiday Calendar, 401K Matching, Strong Healthcare, Great Career Prospects + More!If you meet the above qualifications and are excited about the prospect of joining our team, please submit your resume and cover letter for consideration.
