What makes our company culture unique is we have mastered the ability to balance the standards of a large corporate company while maintaining our small business family style culture.About the Role - IWS APEX is seeking an experienced Landfill Operations Manager to lead and drive facets of the landfill operations as well as, develop and execute strategies that support and maximize performance, including asset planning, long-term objective planning, safety, productivity, environmental management, financial performance, and employee retention. This role will report to and support the General Manager (Landfill).Essential Job Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.Manage the day-to-day operations specific to hisher assigned areas of the Landfill and provide daily support to Supervisors in ensuring quality and budget performanceAssists in the design and implementation of the facilities operating plan, consistent with the accomplishment of long range established objectives which will enhance effectiveness and delineate responsibilities and authorityAssist in the development of facility budget in a timely manner, forecasting financial and workforce planning needs for future time periodsOversee personnel of operations including selecting, coaching, and training employees and evaluating employee performance, as well as providing input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisionsOrganizes and schedules all necessary resources required to accomplish activitiesEnsure thorough root cause investigations for all injuries and incidents, following up with consistent discipline and retraining as needed while working congruently with Safety through the entirety of the processEngages suppliers in problem solving and participates in supplier improvement processesImplement and maintain programs to improve the safety, productivity, and profitability of the facility and ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and other Federal, State and Local regulationsPrepare and maintain reports on waste management activities, including statistical information and landfill conditionsPerform daily inspections of landfill site to detect and correct operational deficienciesFamiliarity with landfill gas and leachate collection systems to ensure proper functioningDevelop and maintain records for waste management activities in accordance with local, state, and federal regulationsMonitor landfill site conditions and inspect equipment to ensure proper functioning and safetyOther duties as assignedRequirements and QualificationsBachelor's degree or equivalent work experience, with at least 7-10 years' experience in the waste industry; and at least 5 years of experience managing teamsKnowledge of LogisticsKnowledge of Managed ProductivityFinancial AcumenExperience in making continuous process improvementsStrategic Planning skillsMOLO training or SWANA certification a plusWorking knowledge of OSHA regulationsStrong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environmentExcellent Verbal and Written Communication SkillsPay range and compensation package - $120K - $150KEqual Opportunity Statement - Interstate Waste Services provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
