Renewables Data Engineer

True Green Capital Management LLC is looking for a Data Engineer to join our Operations team and help optimize our portfolio of solar assets through data-driven insights. You will develop and maintain the databases that track performance metrics, identify optimization opportunities, and provide actionable intelligence to stakeholders. The ideal candidate brings both technical analytics skills and practical solar industry experience, with the ability to translate complex data into clear recommendations to maximize asset performance. Remote work consideration will be given for this role.Data Management & AnalysisDesign and maintain comprehensive database systems for tracking solar asset performance.Design and architect data ecosystems strategically for scalability, availability, and reliability.Create & maintain automated reporting systems to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across the solar portfolio.Analyze performance data to identify trends, anomalies, and optimization opportunities.Build and maintain dashboards for real-time monitoring of solar asset performance.Performance AnalysisMonitor and analyze solar asset performance metrics across both distributed and utility-scale installations.Develop and implement performance optimization strategies based on data analysis.Create and maintain performance models for solar vestigate performance deviations and provide technical recommendations.Conduct regular performance benchmarking across the portfolio.Technical RequirementsBachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, or related field.3+ years of experience in solar energy, with a focus on data analytics.Strong proficiency in database management systems (SQL, PostgreSQL).Experience with programming languages (Python, R) for data analysis.Experience with communication (OPC UA, Modbus TCP, DNP3, MQTT).Knowledge of solar monitoring systems, programmable logic controls, HMI, & SCADA.Experience with Data Acquisition Systems + Historians (IBA, Canary Labs, Proficy).Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI,).Preferred QualificationsExperience with machine learning and predictive analytics,Knowledge of energy storage systems.Experience with GIS mapping tools.Background in financial analysis and asset management.Skills & CompetenciesStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Excellent project management skills.Ability to communicate complex technical information to various stakeholders.Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.Experience working with cross-functional teams.Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
