Position Overview: Development DirectorThe Development Director plays a pivotal role in cultivating and soliciting major gifts and grants from individuals, foundations, and other sources. This leadership position is responsible for guiding and directing staff in support of resource development initiatives.About Jamaica Hospital Medical CenterJamaica Hospital has been recognized among the Best Hospitals in America for 2024 and is a proud recipient of the Healthgrades 2024 America's 100 Best Hospitals award. Notably, Jamaica Hospital holds the distinction of being the first and only Comprehensive Stroke Center in Queens, NY, as accredited by the Joint Commission.We are currently undergoing significant expansion, with recent initiatives, including the modernization of our Emergency Department. In January 2023, Jamaica Hospital Medical Center (JHMC) and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) announced a collaborative effort to enhance cancer care in Queens. This partnership aims to assist JHMC in building its oncology program and refining its staffing through strategic recruitment. By leveraging JHMC's strengths, we will provide comprehensive oncologic care to the community, offering patients access to specialty services and clinical trials not previously available at addition to our recognition as a leading Comprehensive Stroke Center, Jamaica Hospital has received several accolades, including the Healthgrades Neuroscience Excellence Award from 2019 to 2022 and the Stroke Care Excellence Award from 2017 to 2022. The American Heart Association has also honored our stroke care department with the Gold Plus Award in both 2021 and 2022.Position Responsibilities:Develop and implement a strategic plan for both single and multi-year fundraising initiatives.Research and analyze our potential donor base, including agencies, corporations, individuals, and foundations; recommend effective solicitation strategies.Oversee major gift cultivation, including identifying, soliciting, and stewarding major donors.Lead the planning and execution of capital campaigns, annual giving programs, and planned giving initiatives.Oversee and execute all aspects of fundraising events for our two-hospital system (Jamaica Hospital and Flushing Hospital), including annual dinner-dances and golf outings.Create institutional fundraising initiatives such as endowments, major gifts, planned giving, and naming opportunities.Required Skills:Bachelor's Degree is required; a Certificate in Fundraising Management is preferred.Extensive knowledge of fundraising techniques and sources of funding for nonprofit hospitals.Established portfolio of potential donors.Proficiency in fundraising software, such as Razors Edge.Join us at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where your leadership and expertise in development can make a significant impact on our mission to provide exceptional healthcare to our community.
