Founding Engineer

Stop reading if you want to work remote.Who We Are:Volca is an AI startup changing how marketing is done in home services (think HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, etc.).We currently sit at the intersection of lead generation and customer communication, and we'relooking for a talented engineer to bring in as employee #2 to work on our backend processesand infrastructure.We're backed by Recall Capital and the foundersearly hires from Ramp, Gusto, Scale AI, Plaid, Branch.io, Figma, and more. About the role:As a founding engineer at Volca, you'll be key in designing and building the full-stack features ofour AI-powered mobileweb applications. Additionally, you'll have a hand in just about everythingwe do as a company early on. You'll visit customers, hop on calls, attend trade shows, and muchmore.This role is meant for someone that's eager to learn and fired up to tackle the unknown.What You'll Do:Ship high-quality code very fastBuild new features from scratch as we expand our roadmapWork autonomously and progress without always having directionsSpend time face-to-face with prospects and customersSet the tone for our future engineering team that you will manage with Jack (CTO)Become a better you. We want you to grow as an individual every day that you work hereNice To Have:Experience shipping production level, external facing front end codePrior projects where you interfaced with front-end engineers to build a full-stack solutionWorked with Ruby on Rails or React NativeComfortable navigating an AWS-based infrastructureThis role is only hiring in person in our NYC pensationBase salary will be based on experience and in the range of $120k-$150k, combined with founding hire equity
