Accounts Payable Clerk

Role & Responsibilities:· Process ocean domestic and "pure domestic" shipments.· Perform ocean import operations, and provide all associated documentation.· Communicate to customers, carriers and other officesagents in a quick and thorough manner.· Generate freight transfer and support it with appropriate documentation.· Track cargo arrival prior to arrival and update FMS milestones as per company guideline.· Communicate timely with clients to set up and complete delivery of shipments.· Issue delivery orders to carrierstruckers to arrange timely delivery.· Complete all inbound moves; this includes, but is not limited to, ITs and permits to transfer.· Obtain all necessary documents and charges prior to releasing freight; to supply sufficient documentation that will accurately verify all carrier invoices before payment approval.· Trace lost freight and shortages; to follow-up with airlinesshipping lines and inform all stations agents involved of these actions. File preliminary notices of claim.· Assure that each file contains all its necessary documentation in correct sequence; to notify all parties that payable and receivable documents are completed accurately and forwarded in a timely manner; to develop clear, concise, accurate records that enable the Accounting department to properly credit and bill AR and AP.· Complete all tracking and billing milestones as set forth by company guidelines.· Perform any other duties that may be assigned by management. Qualifications:· Minimum two years of Freight Forwarding experience required.· Knowledge of Ocean Import & Domestic trucking Operations and Customer Service.· Experience of bonded freight and cargo.· Cargo wise software experience a plus.· Strong Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point).· Attention to detail, deadline-oriented, dependable, persistence, time management, independent, documentation skills, scheduling and reporting skills.· Proven ability to communicate effectively with clients and vendors.· Customer-service oriented.· Proven ability to suggest and implement corrective actions in case of issues that may arise.
