As a fully-integrated supplier of manufacturing and engineering services, we provide steel components and complex, high value-added assemblies to various industries, including agricultural, construction, mining, energy, heavy truck, and industrial sectors.Position Overview:We are looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead process optimization and continuous improvement efforts at our Independence, KS facility. The role involves enhancing manufacturing efficiency, managing production workflows, and applying Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. Experience with project management and APQP is a plus. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in metal fabrication, CNC machining, and welding processes, and will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality production standards.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:• Lead and manage the design and optimization of manufacturing processes, ensuring maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness.• Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow, and equipment layout to improve operational performance.• Develop, evaluate, and implement manufacturing methods, ensuring all processes are documented with SOPs and standard work procedures.• Apply statistical methods to predict future manufacturing needs and streamline production requirements.• Identify and resolve production issues, ensuring corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurrence.• Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, and error-proofing techniques to optimize manufacturing efficiency.• Oversee the transition of prototypes into full-scale production, providing engineering support and guidance throughout.• Analyze statistical data and product specifications to define quality standards, ensuring product reliability and adherence to customer specifications.• Collaborate with management, engineering, and other teams to align production schedules, improve process flow, and enhance overall productivity.• Provide technical expertise in the installation and testing of new equipment and facilities to ensure compliance with specifications.• Lead the execution of capital and process improvement projects, ensuring the timely and cost-effective implementation of new manufacturing technologies.• Facilitate Kaizen events and other operational excellence activities to drive continuous improvement across the facility.Characteristics:• Proven ability to manage multiple, complex projects while collaborating effectively with crossfunctional teams.• Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills, with a focus on delivering results.• Exceptional problem-solving abilities, particularly in root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.• High commitment to quality standards, safety, and continuous operational improvements.• Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.• Extensive experience in manufacturing environments, particularly in metal fabrication, CNC machining, metal forming, and welding processes.• Strong expertise in applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence methodologies to improve productivity and reduce waste.• Advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling, and machinery, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and provide solutions..• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Pro-E, and MasterCAM is highly preferred.• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.• Experience in project management and APQP. While not a requirement, these skills would be an asset.
