With offices in the United States and France, our mission is to simplify work processes for dental professionals, ensuring exceptional patient care while advancing preventive dental solutions.To support our continued growth and leadership in the field, we are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with strong expertise in systems engineering, process engineering, and optical engineering to lead the design, integration, validation, and manufacturing of our next-generation optical 3D imaging devices.Key Responsibilities1. Mechanical Design & Systems EngineeringLead the mechanical design and integration of 3D intraoral scanner components, ensuring optimal performance in precision imaging systems.Apply systems engineering principles to define design requirements, architecture, and system interactions across mechanical, optical, and electronic domains.Develop and refine optomechanical components, optimizing precision alignment, thermal stability, and structural robustness.Perform tolerance analysis and structural evaluations to ensure manufacturability and performance consistency.2. Process Engineering & Manufacturing SupportConduct Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews, optimizing designs for cost-effective mass production.Lead process engineering efforts, working with manufacturing teams to streamline production workflows and improve yield.Develop scalable assembly and calibration processes, ensuring repeatable, high-quality manufacturing of optical and mechanical systems.Provide sustaining engineering support, performing root cause analysis and implementing design updates for existing products.3. Validation, Testing & ComplianceDevelop and execute design verification and validation (V&V) plans, ensuring compliance with ISO 13485 and other regulatory standards.Lead environmental and mechanical robustness testing, evaluating performance under thermal cycles, vibration, mechanical shocks, and long-term use conditions.Define and implement optomechanical calibration and alignment procedures to enhance imaging precision.Work with regulatory and quality teams to ensure compliance with medical device standards and manufacturing controls.4. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Continuous ImprovementCollaborate with optical, electronics, software, and manufacturing teams to optimize system-level performance.Work with domestic and international suppliers to define mechanical specifications, tolerances, and quality expectations.Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives in design, testing, and production processes.Required QualificationsBachelor's in mechanical engineering, optical engineering, or a related technical field.3+ years of experience in the development of complex mechanical, optomechanical, or imaging systems.Expertise in mechanical design principles, tolerance analysis, and precision assembly techniques.Strong systems engineering mindset, with experience defining cross-disciplinary design requirements and system interactions.Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and simulation tools (FEA, thermal analysis, etc.).Experience designing and testing to regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA, CE).Strong problem-solving skills, ability to lead cross-functional teams, and excellent communication skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience in process engineering, including design transfer to manufacturing, production process optimization, and yield improvement.Experience with optomechanical design, including precision lens mounts, laser scanning systems, or structured light projection.Familiarity with optical alignment, calibration, and metrology techniques.Hands-on experience with 3D imaging technologies, stereo vision, or structured light systems.Background in medical device development, including design validation and regulatory documentation.Experience with automation, robotics, or advanced manufacturing techniques.This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development of high-precision 3D imaging systems in the digital dentistry industry.
