OverviewThe receptionist is responsible for the check inout process, scheduling appointments, routing clinical chart information and phone calls to nurses & midwives, collecting payment, answering basic insurance questions, and faxing documents as necessary.This position is classified as a 1099 Contractor with a 12 month renewable contract. The working hours for this position are Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.DutiesServes patients by greeting and helping them, scheduling appointments, and maintaining records and accounts.Welcomes patients and visitors in person or on the telephone and answering or referring inquiries.Optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone.Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patient's arrival, reviewing service delivery compared to schedule, and reminding providers of service delays.Ensures availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records.Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.Obtains revenue by recording and updating financial information, recording and collecting patient charges, controlling credit extended to patients, and filing, collecting, and expediting third-party claims.Maintains business office inventory and equipment by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, verifying receipt of supplies, and scheduling equipment service and repairs.Helps patients in distress by responding to emergencies.Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information.Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes.Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.Education & ExperienceTwo-Year College (Associates) Degree required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.3-5 years of receptionist experience, preferably in a healthcare setting or medical office.SkillsPossesses strong active listening skills and reading comprehension abilities.Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.Demonstrates strong active learning skills as well as complex problem-solving abilities.Possesses excellent judgment and decision-making skills.Exhibits strong organizational skills and effective time management abilities.Ability to use Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Practice System (PMS) system and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)Ability to multi-taskStrong telephone presenceCustomer service and high-quality mindsetHigh attention to detailHigh level of professionalism
