Job Title: Quality EngineerReports To: Quality ManagerDepartment: QualityLocation: Manchester, MIGeneral FunctionThe Quality Specialist is responsible for assisting with implementing and monitoring internal controls. Supporting SPC program per the control plan and assisting with summarizing the status of SPC program for management at specified intervals. Also assists with preparation of product sample paperwork and various performance testing and continuous testing for validation of product per established procedures. The Quality Specialist responsibilities may vary, depending on assignment and area of focus.ResponsibilitiesMay require supervision of hourly associate's in quality roles.May support supplier quality engineer with investigation and containment of supplier issues.Implement, review, and support SPC requirements as documented in control plans, reports on and implements reaction plans and if needed promotes process andor product change requests.Works with quality engineers and supplier quality to disposition non-conforming material.Works to keep non-conforming material inventory at a minimum by complying with 48hr turn municates sorting needs to production so they can provide personnel to sort non-conforming material produced by production.Enters SPC data collection, documents and maintains SPC and trends as required by control plans and process documentation.Performs routine testing, destructive testing, tensile testing, surface measurements, torque testing and cleanliness testing.Assists with repeatability and reproducibility (R&R) studies and capability studies.Ability to read and understand shop specifications, work instructions and production schedules.Responsible for recording safe launch results in I-charts and posting results at each safe launch stations.Datalyzer AdministrationComply and conform to all applicable BMS documentation.Assist in continuous improvement projects.Train cross functionally to be able to support all production areas to include: SPC, destructive testing, safe launch I-charts and Non-Conforming Material Area.Backup for Quality Inspector and Quality Lab TechnicianAssist in problem solving for Internal and External customer complaintsQualificationsCollege degree in a technical field preferred OR 2 years of comparable experienceRequired SkillsExperience in multiple phases of Quality puter software applications experience.Understanding of ISO 9001 & IATF 16949 preferred.Personal qualifications must include a demonstrated ability to deal effectively with people, good personal grooming, and exceptional oral and written communication skills.Critical Success Factors:Excellent attendance.Excellent Communication Skills (oral and written)Excellent organizational and time management skillsFamiliar with the Occupational Safety and Health Act and RegulationsProven self-starter, who requires limited supervision and direction, yet achieves tasks and overcomes problems and provides effective direction and development from staff.Ability to interact with the Management Team in a professional manner to continually enhance the company's performanceAbility to work independently without supervision and with minimum directionAbility to work in a team environment and be both a team player and team leaderWORKING CONDITIONSOffice Environment and Plant Floor (PPE required)PHYSICAL COMPONENTConstant communication with employees, peers, and managementOvertime as required
