Our client, a leading renewable natural gas (RNG) company based out of South Carolina, specializes in RNG production utilizing a variety of feedstocks. As part of their growth and expansion strategy, they are seeking a skilled and dynamic Business Development Manager to join their team. This role will be critical in supporting the company's growth trajectory, specifically focusing on building a customer base for RNG offtake agreements and expanding relationships with feedstock providers.Position Overview:The Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to secure long-term RNG offtake agreements with customers and expanding the company's network of feedstock providers. The successful candidate will have a strong background in renewable energy, with proven expertise in the renewable natural gas sector, including buying renewable energy credits (RECs). This role requires an individual with a solid understanding of the RNG market, strong negotiation skills, and a passion for advancing sustainable energy solutions.Key Responsibilities:Identify and engage potential customers to build long-term RNG offtake agreements.Negotiate and finalize RNG offtake agreements, ensuring mutual value creation for both the company and customers.Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients in key industries such as utilities, transportation, and industrial sectors.Work closely with internal teams to identify and expand the network of feedstock providers.Build strategic partnerships with key suppliers of organic waste and other feedstocks for RNG production.Negotiate terms with feedstock providers to ensure a consistent and reliable supply of inputs.Leverage experience in buying, managing, and monetizing renewable energy credits (RECs) as part of RNG transactions.Stay informed of regulatory and market trends related to RECs and renewable energy markets.Conduct market analysis and research to identify new opportunities and industry trends.Develop and implement go-to-market strategies to increase market share in the RNG industry.Support the company's brand and reputation in the renewable energy sector.Qualifications:Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial or business development roles, preferably within the renewable energy, energy, or RNG industries.Demonstrated experience in negotiating and managing RNG offtake agreements.Experience in buying renewable energy credits (RECs) and familiarity with REC markets and regulations.Strong understanding of the RNG production process, feedstocks, and the overall renewable energy landscape.Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.Bachelor's degree in Business, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).Desired Skills & Attributes:Strategic thinker with the ability to identify growth opportunities.Ability to work cross-functionally with operations, finance, and legal teams.Self-motivated with strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.Passionate about advancing sustainable energy solutions and the future of renewable natural gas.
