Seeking a Director of Finance - located in AZ REQUIREDPardes Jewish Day School is a premier Jewish independent school for children in grades kindergarten through eighth grade, founded in 1993. See our website at for additional details.JOB PURPOSE: The Director of Finance (DOF) is a key member of the senior leadership team and is responsible for managing the school's financial and physical resources. The DOF oversees budgeting, financial reporting, compliance, grant management, and financial strategy to ensure the school's fiscal health and sustainability.ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Strategic Financial ManagementCollaborate with the Head of School (HOS) and Board of Trustees to achieve the school's financial goals, including endowment growth and financial planning.Develop financial models and forecasts for long-term sustainability.Provide financial insights and reporting to school leadership, board members, and funders.Work with the Finance Committee and its Chair (Treasurer) to set meeting agendas, conduct research, and provide financial reporting.Serve as the primary liaison for the Finance Committee and related committees.Budgeting & Financial OversightOversee the school's budgeting process, including monthly variance reviews and annual budget preparation.Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) through accurate financial reporting and internal controls.Manage accounting functions, including tuition collection, accounts payable, payroll, and regulatory compliance.Work with the school's accounting firm to produce the annual audit and IRS Form 990.Make budget recommendations related to tuition, salaries, benefits, and investments.Monitor financial aid funding availability and oversee the Student Tuition Organization (STO) process, including application support, award criteria, and fund distribution.Risk & Compliance ManagementOversee risk management by working with insurance providers to maintain adequate coverage.Manage the school's investment portfolio and oversee financial policy development.Evaluate vendor contracts and initiate Requests for Proposals (RFPs) when munity & External RelationsMaintain relationships with:Arizona's Student Tuition Organizations (STOs)The Valley of the Sun Jewish Community CenterThe Center for Jewish Philanthropy of Greater PhoenixRepresent the school in professional finance and independent school networks.Additional ResponsibilitiesServe as a role model for faculty and staff through active participation in professional organizations.Assist with campus events, meetings, and leadership duties, including occasional evenings and weekends.Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.Minimum QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of nonprofit financial leadership.SkillsProficiency in financial software applications and advanced spreadsheet skills.Experience with school management software (preferred).Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent organizational and communication skills.Licensing: Must pass a fingerprint and background check and maintain a valid fingerprint clearance card.Preferred: CPA pensation & BenefitsJob Type: Full-time (In-person)Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8-hour shiftSUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING:Demonstrated leadership qualities - organizing people and processesData-informed generative problem solverStrong organizational skills; strong communication skillsA demonstrated commitment to the values of the schoolAbility to work collaboratively with financeoperations team, Senior Leadership, third party providers, and other school community members.OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Must hold fingerprint and background clearance checks and always maintain a valid fingerprint clearance card when employed by the school.May be required to work outside normal working hours.May be required to travel to perform work functions.WE OFFER GREAT BENEFITS:Medical, Dental, Vision, EAP, Life, LTD, STD, HSA, FSAPTO & AZ Sick Time Off403(b) + ER MatchTo Name a Few...
