Inventory Buyer

Summary This position is responsible for maintaining proper inventory levels for John H. Carter Co., Inc. ("the Company"). This position will work frequently with Product Managers to select the appropriate inventory to order and to monitor slow, dead, and excess inventory. Effective communication with senior management and other managers throughout the company is essential.This position requires a steady work habit at all times. The employee must demonstrate the ability to remain focused on work with multiple interruptions daily. In addition, this position can be demanding in terms of time management, knowledge, skills, and commitment to complete tasks daily. Urgency and pressure for prompt, accurate results are routine. Some overtime may be required.Essential DutiesAssists Managers in selecting inventory to stockWorks with detailed historic data to determine order quantitiesEvaluates discount opportunities when purchasingGenerates new purchase orders to meet ordering requirementsTracks purchase orders and deals with delivery and stock issuesAssists Managers with the monitoring and evaluation of slow, dead, and excess inventoryAssists with periodic inventory counts and participate in annual full physical countAssists with inventory management activities as needed, including implementing process enhancements to streamline the replenishment functionMaintains job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizationsThis job is demanding in terms of knowledge skills, commitment, and all other job-related qualifications. Urgency and pressure for prompt, accurate results are routine.
