Product Engineer

Accountability: The Senior Engineer actively participates in new product development of products for heavy duty trucks and trailers. Success is predicated by collaboration with customers, sales, quality, and manufacturing. Job Summary: Develop new parts in response to customer needs and support sales, quality, and manufacturing in launching new parts or part changes.Duties and Responsibilities:Design & develop OEM and aftermarket heavy duty truck and trailer productsDetermine design requirementsDevelop CAD models & detailed drawingsDesign & quote required production toolingDevelop product testing parameters and proceduresDesign test fixturingGather product costing informationSupport OE customers' requirements of expedited orders, responding to quality concerns, and OE technical support.Evaluate new materialsPurchasing supportGenerate technical drawings and 3D models with sufficient detail for suppliersAnswer vendor's technical questionsFind and vet vendors for special parts or processesApply value engineering techniques to reduce costsProduction supportSupport continuous improvement activitiesSupport production cost savings efforts, evaluating change effect on form, fit, and function of change partDocument engineering changes with attention to detail and accurate identification of change impactsSales supportGenerate product picturesillustrations for marketing purposesGenerate product installation instructionsTechnical support Provide technical support to in-house sales teamProvide supplementary technical support to customersQuality supportDisposition deviation requests from suppliers and manufacturingAssist in root cause analysis of customer complaints and production issuesJob duties assigned as business conditions dictate.Uphold company guidelines, procedures and company values. Support drug free teraction: The Senior Engineer will interact with the owners, managers, sales force, customers, outside suppliers, procurement, marketing, supervisors, scheduling, customer service, administration, and hourly employees.Required Experience and Educational Requirements: Bachelors of Science in Engineering or related field from an accredited universityAbility to prioritize work and manage time to meet customer demands and companies strategic goals5+ years of experience in product designProficient with 2D & 3D CAD design softwareProven history of contributing to a company's bottom lineSelf-motivatedProficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and OutlookGood verbal, written and computer skillsPreferred Experience and Educational Requirements: 5+ years of experience with polyurethane or other elastomer5+ years of molding design experience5+ years of tooling design experienceProficient with Solid Works 3D CAD design softwareMaterial test methodology and developmentExperience in a highly regulated industry such as automotive, aerospace or medical devicesExperience in heavy duty trucking, military, agriculture or other heavy machinery
