POSITION SUMMARY:The Estimator is responsible for preparing and submitting quotes on the project(s) assigned to achieve safe, quality, and profitable projects completed in a timely manner. This position must demonstrate strong leadership, organizational and time management skills, as well as have strong communication and client service skills.MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:SafetyPromotes Cantera's culture of "Safety First"ÂCommunicates with Safety Professionals to ensure a safe workplaceProactively identifies and halts unsafe work practices, and promptly reports them to management to ensure a safe work environmentOperationalIdentifies and quantifies construction elementsParticipate in the job turnover processes with other members of the Cantera leadership teamDevelops client relationships for current and future jobsMonitor costs, including labor and timeParticipates in bid reviews with other estimators as necessaryAssess risk possibilities associated with projectsPrepare proposals and acquire bid bondsPrepare job cost budgetSolicit vendor quotesPrepare quantity takeoffs and estimates in a timely mannerAssist Project Managers with pricing of change ordersOther duties as assignedJOB SKILLS & ABILITIES GUIDELINES:Broad understanding of the concrete construction industryKnowledge of Microsoft programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and BluebeamStrong written and verbal communication skills, both internally and externallyFunctions effectively as part of a teamStrong decision-makingproblem-solving skillsExcellent time management and organizational skillsAble to engage in a variety of tasks, and consistently meet deadlinesAble to perform duties independentlyStrong mathematical skillsStrong attention to detailQUALIFICATIONS:Work ExperienceFour (4) years of Construction Experience with no formal education requiredTwo (2) years Concrete ExperienceCertificationsOSHA 10 CertifiedCPR CertifiedFirst Aid CertifiedWORK CONDITIONS AND HOURSConditions and hoursRequires overtime hoursMust be comfortable with travel on an as needed basisSome weekends are requiredBENEFITS:Receive, review, forward and track status of submittalsTrack and distribute RFIsAssist in preparations of bid packages and procurementTrack and inspect material deliveriesAttend project meetings and record meeting minutesAssist in project close-outCommunicate and enforce Manhattan Safety PoliciesDemonstrate commitment to an injury-free environment through own actions and mentoring othersOther duties as assignedAttention All Third-Party Agencies, Headhunters, and RecruitersCantera Concrete Company will not accept candidate submission by unsolicited third parties through this site or any company email address.
