THE ROLEWe are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Support Specialist to be the first point of contact for Central Office employees' time, attendance, and payroll information. In this role, you will interact with Agency employees and supervisors to resolve payroll-related issues, ensure accuracy, and maintain compliance with payroll laws. You will support the payroll department by handling clerical tasks, troubleshooting issues, training new staff, and preparing accounting reports. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy problem-solving, this position is for you.LOCATION: Wilsonville, ORSALARY: $21-24 per hourSCHEDULE: Full-Time, Weekly Schedule 8am - 5pmINDUSTRY: Non-profitPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES• Poll electronic time clocks and apply data to payroll software.• Troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate with IT for resolution.• Contact supervisors regarding time discrepancies and request corrected documentation.• Enter payroll data into HRIS and timekeeping software.• Process payroll data, including garnishments, leave requests, voluntary deductions, accrual rates, direct deposits, and W4s.• Process manual checks and track funding for all checks.• Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports such as cash requests, hours worked, and tax deductions.• Respond to banks and government agencies for verification of hours worked and wages earned.• Manage Quarterly Tax Deposit spreadsheets for Payroll Supervisor and Senior Financial Analyst.SKILLS AND MUST-HAVES• Strong understanding of payroll laws and their application.• Proficient in payroll software, HRIS systems, and timekeeping software.• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.• Strong troubleshooting abilities to resolve technical issues.• Ability to audit payroll reports and identify discrepancies.• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.• Ability to train and support staff in payroll systems and procedures.• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive payroll data.• Experience with accounting reports and managing payroll tax documents.• Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and Oregon Child Care Division regulations (preferred).EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS• High school diploma or GED, AND at least four years of experience in accounting, preferably in payroll, with a solid understanding of payroll and payroll taxes, OR• AAAS in Accounting, or a related field, AND at least two years of work experience, with a solid understanding of payroll and payroll tax law.THE COMPANYWe are a dedicated and inclusive non-profit organization committed to supporting our employees and the community we serve.
