Business Development Manager*Direct Hire Opening with excellent compensation, benefits, variable comp., etc.Location: San Francisco Bay territory*This is a remote role that would target San Francisco, San Jose, Oakland, Sacramento areas. Position OverviewThe Business Development Manager (BDM) drives strategic business development efforts within a designated geographic territory. This role plays a crucial part in expanding market presence, strengthening specification standing, and driving business growth through a market-focused approach. This person should have a background in Mechanical Systems for industrial and commercial projects. (That can be sales, business development, project management etc.) And, well versed and enjoy client facing activities: Connecting, educating, entertaining, to build long term, mutually beneficial partnerships. The BDM's primary responsibilities include implementing strategic market initiatives, gathering market intelligence, and securing comprehensive project details, including scopes of work. (Mainly developing relationships with the right target audience and driving awareness and educating them on the benefits of our product and engineering services.)This individual actively engages with key stakeholders"”such as owners, engineers, and contractors"”to create opportunities and enhance market influence.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute an annual business plan to increase market influence and drive growth.Identify, prioritize, and cultivate key relationships with owners, engineers, and general contractors.Expand penetration within key accounts by influencing owner guidelines, master specifications, and project specifications.Utilize CRM tools (such as Salesforce) to track and manage project details, ensuring effective collaboration with the commercial sales team.Conduct market research to gather intelligence on industry trends, competitive positioning, and emerging opportunities.Facilitate smooth project handoffs to the commercial sales team at the appropriate stage of the project lifecycle.Maintain deep expertise in product applications, industry specifications, and competitive landscape.Represent the company in trade organizations and professional associations to strengthen industry presence.Engage in strategic relationship-building to enhance market intelligence and business development efforts.Stay informed on construction, engineering, and project management best practices.Handle additional responsibilities as assigned.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, or a related field preferred.Prior sales experience in commercial construction, engineering, or a related technical field.Proven success in business development, sales, and account management with a track record of achieving sales targets.Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills.Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work independently while collaborating with a high-performing team.Ability to adapt to challenges, think creatively, and solve problems efficiently.Proficiency in CRM software and other sales management tools.Capable of lifting 50+ pounds.Experience in writing and developing design specifications is a plus.Limited Travel - Willingness to travel overnight as needed but this location only has limited need for that.
