Title: Principal Mechanical Engineer Work Location: Addison, TXDivision & Department: EngineeringPosition Reports to: Senior Director - Hardware EngineeringCOMPANY VALUESAll Authentix employees are expected to embrace our Company values in the performance of their respective tasks and duties.Always with integrity.......Authentixians value:Dedicate ourselves to our customers' successCompete and win with integrityCreate innovative solutions with science and technologyTeam and collaborate with accountabilityJOB SUMMARY The Principal Mechanical Engineer will lead all aspects of mechanical design for Authentix devices, driving innovative and robust solutions for complex electro-optical systems.This hands-on role combines technical expertise in mechanical design with leading cross-functional collaboration, vendor management, and lifecycle process optimization to ensure delivery of high-quality products from concept to production.SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSThe essential functions listed below are representative of the functions that must be performed in order to satisfactorily fulfill the purpose of this job. Additional functions and duties may be assumed or assigned from time to time.Lead all mechanical engineering activities for the development of complex electro-optical devices, including authentication systems and optical sensors, from concept through production.Define and implement best practices and processes to ensure predictable, high-quality mechanical development cycles.Perform hands-on detailed design, modeling, and prototyping of mechanical systems to achieve performance and reliability goals.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical and optical engineers, to align mechanical designs with overall product and system requirements.Conduct and lead design reviews to ensure technical rigor and alignment with product requirements.Create comprehensive bills of materials, fabrication, and assembly drawings using GD&T standards.Maintain and optimize the division's mechanical CAD software (SolidWorks) and PLM systems (Arena PLM).Work closely with vendors to ensure quality standards for prototyping and production, resolving design and quality issues.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills andor abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of this job.Ability to devise creative solutions to tough electrical, optical, and mechanical packaging problemsTechnical expertise in the following areas;Design packaging from optical prescriptionTolerance analysisDeveloping thermally stable and robust opto-mechanical systemsStructural and thermal management, including advanced modeling techniquesAdhesives, bonding solutions and optical component integrationAssembly partitioning and packaging for designs with multiple printed circuit boardsMaterial and finish selection for mechanical systemsCreating detailed fabrication and assembly drawings using GD&T principlesAdvanced proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) and PLM systems (Arena PLM preferred).Familiarity with 3-D printing and other rapid prototyping techniquesAbility to work with machine shops to resolve designdrawingfabrication issuesStrong ability to interface with machine shops and resolve fabrication or design issues.Excellent multitasking skills to support multiple simultaneous projects.Team collaboration and leadership, with exceptional communication skills to bridge technical disciplines.Education and Experience: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, ideally specializing in the design and development of complex electro-optical systems.Demonstrated success in leading projects and delivering innovative mechanical solutions in a multidisciplinary environment.WORK REQUIREMENTSThe work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the job.
