Probate ParalegalLocation: Alton, IL (in-office Tuesday - Thursday) - HybridPosition Type: Full-timeAbout Us:Our Firm, a national plaintiff's law firm, is seeking a full-time legal assistant to support attorneys managing estate and probate litigation matters. The ideal candidate will have extensive written and verbal client communication skills, a legal background and excellent organizational skills. The majority of the work will involve speaking directly with the firm's clients. This role is also responsible for administrative tasks, including drafting and managing probate documents, assisting clients through the various steps of probate proceedings, and coordinating hearings and mediations.Qualifications:• 3+ years' professional experience working in probate• Highly organized, good communication and people skills• Used to fast-paced work environment• Strong techcomputer skills• Alton-based is preferred• Previous asbestos or mass tort experience is a strong plus.Key Responsibilities:• Regularly interviewing clients by phone and timely updating them on their legal cases.• Reviewing and evaluating cases to prepare for attorney review and filing.• Assisting our Intake Specialists with managing the intake system.• Managing the workflow of cases in our electronic case management system.• Drafting and sending correspondence.• Offering general assistance to attorneys and senior paralegals.• Properly and constantly documenting all events and communications.• Submitting invoices timely and consistent with firm policy.• Managing and meeting deadlines for SOLs and other filings under the supervision of attorneys.Qualifications:• Minimum of 3 years of prior paralegal andor legal assistant experience.• At least 3 years of Probate paralegal experience.• Experience utilizing Smart Advocate case management platform preferred.• Experience with drafting and filing complaints and other pleadings.• Experience reviewing and summarizing medical information.• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.• Experience as a paralegal or legal assistant in a law firm setting.• High attention to detail and superior organizational skills.Benefits:• 401(k) matching• Dental insurance• Flexible spending account• Health insurance• Health savings account• Paid time off• HolidaysEducation:• Bachelor's (Preferred)
