Job Title: ControllerLocation: Jamaica, NYPosition Type: Full-Time, ExemptReports To: CEOWe are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to join our team. This position plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing the Credit Union's fiscal record-keeping systems while ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, with the ability to implement processes that enhance operational efficiency and financial performance. This is a leadership role that requires exceptional analytical and organizational skills, along with a commitment to ensuring outstanding service to both internal and external members.Key Responsibilities:Oversee and maintain the general ledger system, ensuring accuracy in financial transactions and reporting.Manage Fixed Assets System, Accounts Payable System, and FISERV Portico system to ensure data integrity and accuracy.Ensure compliance with GAAP and FASB standards, staying up-to-date with changes and communicating updates to relevant stakeholders.Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures to support accurate financial reporting and effective accounting operations.Prepare and manage quarterly regulatory requirements, including NCUA 5300 Call Report and related work papers.Process and manage the CECL calculation, assist CEO with Credit Union investments, and approve consumer and mortgage loans.Perform liquidity analysis and monitor daily cash flow to support the Credit Union's minimum liquidity needs.Maintain records of Credit Union investments, ensuring proper classification and compliance with internal policies and GAAP.Assist with the preparation of monthly financial packages, quarterly ALM packages, and financial presentations for the Board of Directors.Collaborate with the CEO and office manager to gather essential records for outside auditors and support auditors during on-site examinations.Lead the preparation of annual budgets and projections, based on input from management and the Board.Assist in the development and execution of new processes and procedures to streamline and automate accounting operations.Provide support and backup to the CEO as needed.Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting from an accredited institution.Strong understanding of GAAP, FASB standards, and state and federal banking regulations.Proficient in financial software and accounting systems (experience with FISERV Portico is a plus).Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and communicate effectively with senior management and team members.High level of attention to detail and the ability to solve complex financial problems.Ability to work independently and make decisions based on sound financial judgment.Preferred:CPA or equivalent professional certification (or in progress).Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting for a Credit Union or similar financial institution.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software programs.
