OTR is seeking a wheel and tire design engineer to support the engineering development of future customer products. The primary function of the position is to lead the design, development, and optimization of tires for Off-The-Road (OTR) applications, including heavy machinery, construction vehicles, mining equipment, lawn & garden and agricultural machinery. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in tire and wheel engineering, materials science, and performance analysis, with a focus on durability, safety, and efficiency under extreme operating conditions. Essential Functions:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.Leads the interpretation of customer requirements to develop tire and wheel designs that meet exceed customer expectationsCreates parametric models of both wheels and tires with associated, detailed drawings in CREOConducts tolerance stack-up analysis as needed to ensure that products are fully compatible with target applicationsApplies FEA toolsets to confirm that designs are robust under worst case conditionsCreates design FMEAs for both wheels and tires with associated validation plans to ensure that products meet functional and durability requirements. Support the development of process FMEAs when needed.Supports product innovation for both wheels and tires to ensure that OTR has class leading products for cost, weight and designWorks closely with global business development teams to ensure that tasks are prioritized, and engineering deliverables are met within agreed timelinesDevelops Gant charts as requested by the Program Management teamCreates engineering specifications for wheels, tires and associated sub-componentsWorks closely with customers and suppliers to negotiate requirements, specifications and validation plansWorks closely with internal cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, R&D, and quality assurance, to align design with production capabilitiesCreates test specifications, conducts tests and process test data as needed. Present findings internally and to customers as neededMentors junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvementApplies problem resolution methodologies to resolve issues quickly when they ariseOther duties can be assigned based on company needs and employee capabilitiesCompetencies:CAD (CREO)GD&TFEA (CREO Ansys)PLM experience (Windchill)Experience using APQP tools including FMEAsTest and instrumentation experienceBuilding customer and supplier relationshipsEthical conductStrong attention to detail and follow-throughExcellent oralwritten communication skillsPlanning and organizing Required Skills Abilities:Tire and wheel design and development expertiseParametric modeling background - CREO Preferred 2D drawing expertise with GD&TExcellent verbal and written communication terface with multiple disciplines (and multiple countries cultures) to determine product requirements and to coordinate product changesAble to organize, maintain focus, and follow up on multiple projects independentlyAble and willing to take on projects as neededSupervisory Responsibility:This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. At times, due to projects or work assignments, employees will need to coordinate and direct a team to meetsatisfy individualcompany objectives.Work Environment:This role operates in a professional office environment. There is a separate on-site Engineering Lab area where the use of specialized testing and measuring equipment is often required.Physical Demands:Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times (occasionally). Utilizing engineering test and inspection equipment requires some dexterity and flexibility.Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM. To meet our customer demands and internal objectives, at times this role will be required to work outside of the normal schedule, including weekends.
