Their track record of more than 110 projects and 90-plus miles of bored tunnels speaks for itself.The primary objective of the Senior Estimator is to prepare cost estimates for underground construction projects.Key Tasks And ResponsibilitiesConsult with vendors, personnel in other departments or construction superintendentengineers to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issuesAnalyze plan documents and other data to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimatesPrepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractorsConfer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimatesPrepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling workPrepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the projectAssess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project developsSet up cost monitoring and reporting systems and proceduresConduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reductionReview material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase componentsWorking with estimating team to help predict the timescales of a project, which has a considerable bearing on costsEstablishing the likely progress and completion rates, including allowances for bad weather and other unforeseen circumstancesCalculating a final figure for the estimated cost, supplemented by adjustments for overheads and profit, and presenting a tender priceAssume additional responsibilities as directed by division and corporate management.
