POSITION SUMMARY:Due to increased global demand for critical power, our Electrical Design Engineer play a key role in our Sales Order Engineering team helping to facilitate development of engineered to order load banks including portable, permanent and trailered versions.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential Functions:Plans, manages, and coordinates the engineering design work requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out the complex design of electrical loads for testing back up power systems or renewable power sourcesAssists Sales to prepare technical proposals and pricing on engineered orders. May supports Sales in making sales calls and customer terprets customer supplied specifications, drawings and one-line diagrams for solution development, quotation and cost estimate purposes.Designs and develops the best costperformance product that meets or exceeds customer requirements for safety and reliability.Manage the on time and accurate completion of the design package to the Drafting department.Generates any test procedures and technical manuals required with the product.Works with internal groups such as Assembly, Procurement and field technicians during build, test or start up to resolve issues and coordinate engineering response and action plans as neededSupports the maintenance of documentation via engineering change procedures.Prepares engineering submittals for filing product with UL and CSA agencies to obtain approvals; directs third party product certification and testing where requiredResponds to inspectors' questions in manufacturing plants and handles any variations. Additional Responsibilities:Work as part of a project team to deliver cost effective, manufacturable designs which are aligned to customer requirements, including safetyProvide updates on project status and timeline for completionAdhere to all safety guidelines and promoting a proactive approach to identify and mitigate potential hazards with new product manufacturing processLive the mission, vision and values of AvtronAny other duties as assignedMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated experience developing and creating new products preferably in the electromechanical products spaceMinimum 5 years of experience in related roleStrong knowledge of safety protocols, quality control, and manufacturing processesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsDetail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skillsExperience designing to UL, CSA, NEC, and other safety agency requirementsIndustry-specific knowledge in the electrical testing space is a plusEDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Education:4-year degree in Electrical Engineering requiredFive or more years of professional experience with OEM electrical design activities, preferably in power design, generation, distribution or protection.Specific knowledge working with ERP systems, and Microsoft ApplicationsCreative and flexible personality to work through changing responsibilities and customer requirementsBS in Electrical Engineering. Advanced degree is a plusExcellent writtenverbal communication skills required to interface with customers and vendorsDemonstrated problem solving expertise ExperienceFive or more years of professional experience with development, design and engineering of electrical systems COMPUTER SKILLS:Proficiency in ExcelProficiency in Microsoft Office applications
